Wedding day details are such a popular item that brides and grooms definitely want photographed. Everything from rings, shoes, invitations, flowers, dress, jewelry, perfume bottles...the list can be endless depending on the couple.
It's usually the first thing we go to capture on a wedding day. We begin with establishing shots of the venue and at the same time, another member of the team is gathering all the details. While we ask the brides to have a box of those items ready to go, often times we wind up assembling the items ourselves.
From there it is finding a good location to layout and capture those details. When doing both photo & video of the day, we often go for a more 3D style layout which is better for video. If it's just photography then sometimes it will be the traditional flat lay shot from above straight down. Either way, good light is essential.
With somemthing like the wedding dress, it's find a good place to hang the dress. Sometimes outside is good, but one must make sure that the groom is no where around as it's tradition for him to not see the dress until first looks/down the aisle. Other times is something close to a window where we can really lean on that natural light.
Overall, these items make for some creative and fun photos and video that a couple can then have captured for a lifetime to show their future generations.
