A couple of days ago, someone said something to me that made me uncomfortable. They told me that I would never be a photographer if I didn't study at an internationally renowned school. That I had to improve before uploading content because it could be full of mistakes.
That didn't make me hang my head. I'm not ashamed to upload my content, even if it has mistakes. I'm a beginner, and I'm improving my content day by day. What's the point of keeping my content to myself until it's perfect? I want to show that you can start from scratch, improve, and perfect yourself in life.
A photographer is not born overnight. They are formed by preparing themselves, walking the world with their camera in hand, capturing what they see around them, transmitting and perfecting their technique day after day until one day, after so much preparation, a new Ansel Adams is born. Technique and practice are what make the master.
I'm not ashamed to say that I'm a beginner, that my work has flaws, and that I still don't know how to handle light. But everything comes little by little, with dedication, passion, love, and lots and lots of practice. I know I'm going to succeed, because my love for photography isn't something new; it's been with me my whole life. Dreams become goals, and my goal is to succeed and for my photography to fill people's souls, and nothing is going to stop me. Negative opinions give me more strength to continue, so thanks to those opinions, I am more determined than ever.
Here is a little more from the session with the copper-haired mermaid.

I am not a photographer, but I love photography and I have been shooting for almost a decade now. I looooove your work and I have seen many amateur (or new) photographers shooting much better than renowed one. School cannot teach you how to have the eye for shooting and to frame your environment.
Having said that, talent is unique and you either own it or not, BUT - only when I started learning photography, I started understanding basic things about light, exposure, gear, moments, composition etc. It does not matter if you follow your own rules, you should. But you got to know the history, the story and the evolution of it...
Please keep photographing and keep posting your amazing shots!

You definitely don't have to go to a fancy school to be a successful photographer! We have quite a range of professionals to amateurs on their phones just here in the community. You can always ask for help or tips on posts that you enjoy the photography of! Part of being in the Photography Lovers Community is for the support and growth of everyone here together. Also, in Cuba they have the Safari Photography events which is a really cool initiative.
Maybe @abelfotografia or @janetedita could tell you more about it or give you some tips on lighting etc. The harsh lighting is much more toned down in this post compared to your Copper-Haired Mermaid post. So, i can already see improvement in one day for your editing skills. I also noted that you took my advice about a few of the suggestions i gave you a few weeks ago. Keep on keeping on and your journey will be fun. One day you will scroll backwards through your blog and see your growth and development first-hand!
I’m really glad that @castelberry mentioned me in this post. My life is a bit of a mess right now with so many things going on.
But let me tell you something—no one is born knowing everything. And if we all waited to do things perfectly… I think there wouldn’t be a single photograph in the world.
Photography goes beyond technique (though that definitely takes study). It also carries emotion and feeling. And when you don’t yet know the technical side, you can always start there—by trying to capture what something makes you feel. Is it joy? Then you can assume it shouldn’t look like a dark photo… and from there, common sense helps a lot.
Those of us who work professionally in photography are constantly learning.
If you’re from Havana, I recommend joining the photo safaris held every month. Photographers and models of all levels take part—some with lots of knowledge, some with little or none—but with a huge desire to learn and share.
@abelfotografia can give you the details to join our Telegram group.
Greetings, and thank you @castelberry for the opportunity to give a little push to someone just starting out in this amazing world of Hive and photography.
Thanks, friend @janetedita. Unfortunately, I'm not from Havana; I'm from Morón in Ciego de Ávila. I've always wanted to participate in these Photo Safaris, but the current travel conditions in the country aren't very favorable. I hope to be able to do so one day.
Igualmente puedes integrarte al grupo de telegram que también hay cosita interesantes por allá y se conversa mucho sobre el tema.

Thank you so much, my friend @castleberry. You can't imagine how much I appreciate your constructive criticism, which has helped me grow so much. This comment has moved me beyond belief. Thanks again for the support.
You are very welcome! I'm glad you got going here on Hive and it's really cool to see people come together in support of their interests and passions.
Thank you for taking the constructive criticisms Constructively! Many folks get offended when they hear any critique of thier content. Glad that you are humble enough to admit being a beginner and i agree with you... SO WHAT! hahaha I had the most fun of my photography journey in the beginning.
Just keep on keepin' on and continue to grow and learn.. but most importantly, have fun. There are so many incredible photographers in Cuba and here on Hive. You have a lot of opportunities to learn from their wisdom and experience! Cheers
So, dear friend @ceperomorales99 you have such beautiful photos. They are not perfect, that is a fact, but who is perfect? Nobody!!!!!! So beautifully framed, such beautiful colors (a little too intense for me, but OK), a flat horizon .... So, all in all, I like the photos. But it also doesn't matter so much whether others like them. My thinking is that ..... If I like the photo, I am satisfied. I never think about what others think of them when I publish them. And of course, in the end .... "A photographer is not born overnight"
It's an honor that you like my photographs, my friend. Thank you for the support and encouragement. A photographer is born from the passion and experience of taking photo after photo every day.
❤️❤️
Improving is always good, but attending a world-renowned school is not necessary for improvement. I think your work here is lovely, especially those last two shots! Keep working, improve where you can by trying new things, and continue to be proud of your own unique style as you develop it! 💗
Aún las personas con estudios de años cometen errores, si hay ganas de aprender como tú las tienes basta para evolucionar en cualquier cosa que te propongas, tú sigue que talento tienes.
