Blue Lake

IMG_8773.jpg

Samara region, Sergievsky district. Local attraction - Blue Lake. The place is interesting, with a bunch of legends. The lake itself is a karst funnel filled with water in which there is a lot of hydrogen sulfide. The smell around the lake is appropriate. Due to the large number of springs, the water temperature there is constantly kept around 7 degrees Celsius. In summer it is cold, and in winter it does not freeze. The depth is great and the water is very clear. Somewhere in 2010-2012, the bottom collapsed, and an underwater cave was discovered. But it has not yet been studied. In general, divers constantly dive on this lake.

There is a legend that the lake is connected by an underground river with the Shungut River, which flows nearby. As the legend says, once upon a time, a horse with a cart fell into the lake. And after some time, part of the wagon and the bones of the horse were found in the river, a few kilometers from the lake

Beautiful photos! My favorites were the first and the last one. Very interesting the legend you tell us here about that lake, the truth is that the planet hides many mysteries that have not yet been discovered. Greetings, @chanych85 🙌.

Thank you for your feedback :) There is also a legend that there is dead water in the Blue Lake, and living water in the lake nearby. That you must first swim in dead water, and then in living water. Allegedly cures all diseases. And so I agree, the planet is still fraught with a lot of secrets and mysteries

That is an eerily beautiful place.

That is also an interesting story about the horse and cart that were later found in the river.

It looks beautiful but hydrogen sulfide sounds bad.

Is hydrogen sulfide dangerous?

Very interesting, eerie and beautiful witht he snow.

In small quantities, it is not dangerous, but on the contrary, it is considered useful. In sanatoriums, therapeutic baths with water from hydrogen sulfide sources are used. And the mud, which is extracted from a similar lake nearby, is considered curative. They say it helps with joint diseases.

In winter, I like this lake more, because of the contrast with the snow. In summer, everything is green - and the water seems a little blue. And in winter it is very beautiful, but cold :)
