[corvidae]

helpless
we know not what we do
we are the destroyers
we
me
I am a destroyer

so many voices
I hear them on the wind
through my heart
through other destroyers' stories
I listen
we listen
we all listen

we try
but we know not what we do
we are powerless to stop ourselves
as we pile our waste upon the living
and run out of places to put our dead

soon we will be among them
these beating hearts
these fading voices
our own power like a virus
to snuff us out
one by one

if only
we hadn't been so clever
too clever
for our own good
we might have remembered
how to let our hearts
beat alongside theirs
and not to take more than we needed
