Zelenci Spring

Hello,

Guess where I will be going this Sunday? Kranjska Gora!
There is a winter time and that means it is time to enjoy in all the good things winter have to offer. With couple of snowy days behind, we have something to do. No skiing for me, as I don’t ski anymore, but sledding can be just as fun, especially with young kids. Hope we will be able to buy mulled wine or some hot chocolate for the kids since the Covid restrictions are quite strict these days in Slovenia.

I know, I shared many natural beauties from Kranjska Gora already, but why not exposing this special place once again. There are two favourite places around there, even though there are many others which are beautiful as well. I had in mind Lake Jasna and Zelenci Spring. I will focus on the last mentioned today in my post. Zelenci is actually a spring of Sava Dolinka, which become later on when it merges with Sava Bohinjka, the biggest river in Slovenia and it continue the way through Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro and Albania. It is also known as the right tributary of river Danube. So it all starts in a small, but beautiful place near Kranjska Gora, or to be more precise, near Podkoren. Zelenci is natural reserve and it belongs to Triglav National Park on the northern edge of it. The nicest part of is an emerald green lake in which water is extremely clean so you can also observe some fishes who live in it. Interesting fact is that Zelenci has constant water temperature of about 6 degrees Celsius, meaning that they don’t freeze during the winter. There is also a viewing tower which extend your sight to the mountains which are surrounding this beautiful place.

I am not sure if I will make it to Zelenci tomorrow, but I am happy to share some photos from the non-winter ambient. Hope you will enjoy and wish you all a nice weekend as well!

Great idea to make some great photos at KG!

That is always a great idea, no matter where in Slovenia you are.

how are you dear friend @ crazy-andy good day
I'm very sorry that the restrictions have increased and I hope you got hot chocolate for the kids

This place is really beautiful, I like the preservation of the place
Great shots
Have a nice afternoon

I am good, thank you for asking! What about you?

I mean, we are already used to new life under the Covid conditions. Bars are still open, but there is no typcal Christmas markets where you could just stop by and grab something to eat and drink.

Have a good one!

Stunning natural shots. Places like this one are beautiful in all seasons. The colors of the vegetation might change with seasons but the color of the water is constantly turquoise and crystal clear. Awesome.

Enjoy your time in Kranjska Gora and take a lot of snowy photos there! :)

@tipu curate 3

Nice to see you around Petr!

I agree, if place is beautiful it is beautiful no matter which time of the year it is :)
That is the case with Zelenci as it has special charm when it is snowy, but spring is nice on the other had and the rest of the year as well.

Unfortunatelly we didn't make it there as kid get fever, but it is nothing serious. Some other day for sure!

Thank you for the boost!

@crazy-andy Amazing place. The combination of distant hills, sparking blue water and the lush greenery is so cool!
Beautiful photos captured. Which camera do you use?

Whole landscape combination there is very much of what I like. The water there is so special, so clean with amazing colour.

Mostly I am using my smartphone Samsung Galaxy S10.
If I go on a bigger travel or for some special occasions, I do use my real camera which is Sony A7 iii.

Cool. It’s amazing the kind of images smartphones can produce these days. Sony a7 is a great camera too. Some of my wildlife photography friends use it too.

Looking forward to further great pics and destinations from you.

Wow such an amazing blue/green water. So beautiful, I would really like to swim in there.

Me too, water is really tempting, but it is strictly forbidden.
But I did drink this water. Great feeling when it is really hot outside and you get natural 6 degrees Celzius water. It simply taste better...

amazing nature. nice shots. my heart was filled with peace. thanks.

That is great to hear.
Thanks for stopping by!

I'm imagining that freezing over and ice skating on it on a crisp clear cold day... ahhhh.

It would be cool, but on some other place.
As I mentioned above, there is constant temperature of this water at around 6 degrees Celzius, meaning it never freezes, like some lakes. Probably as it is a spring. But if it is winter time and really cold outside atmosphere there is still awesome.

Wow... Kranjska Gora... I remember well the July 2010. Only few days in Slovenia, but I promised to me I will return. And the time will come... :D

Awesome, that you have been here and I am glad you liked it. Welcome back anytime...

That water is sparkling clear! Delightful! A Christmas holiday is usually that moment of the year when the city is filled with all sorts of people selling out good stuff. Due to restrictions some might not be able to taste that joy. Making some homemade chocolate or mulled wine can be an option🤩

Water there is really gorgeous.
Yes, December is a great month and it is such a shame that we can not enjoy in it like we were, but hopefully next one will be normal.
And thank you for the smart suggestion :)

Hope we'll get to see some fresh winter time photos from Kranjska Gora and the area soon!

I will do my best :)
Would be a great comparison.

A stunning combination of mountains of trees and crystal clear waters. I also liked that in this place there is an ecotrail with special approaches to the water and even an observation tower (judging by one of the photos). This is the place I want to visit :) Thanks for sharing!

Looks like I need to travel around Slovenia again
