🌸 Macro-Universe Up Close: Childlike Wonder and My First Adventure with a Macro Lens! ✨

Hello, Photography Lovers! 🤗💜

Today I have something very special for you—my first photo story from a world usually hidden from plain sight! I want to share my very first attempts at macro photography.
The Pricey Path to a Macro Lens 💸
I have to be honest: I have been eyeing macro lenses for a long time, but the price tag for a truly good, high-quality lens that won't disappoint can be quite steep! After much deliberation and watching dozens of reviews, this particular model—the Sony FE 90mm F2.8 Makro G OSS—caught my attention.

Why this one? A few factors immediately won me over:

  1. G-Series Sharpness: Reviews call it one of the sharpest lenses in the Sony lineup, and for macro, where every detail matters, that is critical.
  2. Versatility: The 90mm focal length means I can use the lens not only for macro but also for great portraits, making it a valuable investment.
  3. Built-in Stabilization (OSS): In macro, even the slightest hand shake can ruin a shot, and the built-in stabilizer is a huge help, especially for a beginner like me!
And now it's finally mine, and I can begin!😎🔥

Back to Childhood

Do you remember being a child and sitting for hours staring at a flower or an anthill? When a blade of grass seemed like a tree and a shiny bug was a real treasure? For me, macro photography is exactly that—a return to childhood. It’s that feeling of kneeling down, fully immersing yourself in the tiny details, and becoming an explorer for a moment. ✨🧐
I’m just beginning this journey and am still finding my style, not knowing what is "right" or "wrong" in macro. But one thing I know for sure: examining the details is incredibly captivating! Those microscopic dewdrops on the petals, like miniature glass spheres, and textures that seem almost alien—this is what truly inspires me.

📸 The Subject: Cottage Memories and Unexpected Encounters

These shots were born during a simple walk in the park. The dahlias immediately drew my attention. They brought back warm memories: when I lived in Ukraine, we always had so many of these lush, bright flowers at our dacha (summer cottage). I remember picking them, and I feel like this is the first time I've seen them this close up in years!

Here is what entered my viewfinder that day:

Dahlias in Dew and an Autumn Leaf: Look at this pink bloom dusted with dew! And the yellow maple leaf that landed on it created a beautiful, slightly melancholic autumn accent.
Bright Flashes of Color: The red dahlia with dewdrops on its petals... it was simply glowing against the dark background!
Surprise Models: And these shiny, almost metallic flies, which seemed to be posing for their own photoshoot, I consider my main catch! They are incredibly detailed.

I hope these images bring you the same sense of quiet wonder and positivity that I felt while shooting them.

Thank you so much!
The macro lens has made my life a little brighter. ✨

They are pricey indeed , i only have one sony lens 24-105mm f4.0 G OSS , the rest are mostly manual focus lenses , but it shows in the results .

Congratulations !!

Did you know that @stresskiller is also a witness now ?

After mastering the macro lens, I would really love to buy a telephoto lens. 🔭 That will be even more challenging—maybe there will be some divine sales or someone selling one on eBay. 🙏

well you can always look at the Laowa lenses not to expensive and great quality

i use the Laowa 25mm ultra macro 2.5-5x magnification and the Laowa 15mm F4.5 1:2 macro , ok you don't have OSS but you still have in camera stabilisation when needed at least i do on my Sony A7II and A7IV .

Honestly, I hadn't even heard of this company since I'm currently living in Germany. I'll need to look at the reviews and read up on it. Thank you for the advice! 😊

Germany is next door to me , i live in the Netherlands :)

Yes? I often go to the Netherlands on Sunday because nothing is open in Germany 😁
