Ahh... thanks for that knowledge, what a shame for a place with the first lighthouse, magnificent libraries and one of the most glorious seaports of old to decline into. When I travel, I generally steer away from places that interest tourists as the true life and culture of countries exists well apart from that.

Yes, it's truly one of the oldest places, I think Alexandria's main problem is that it's so overpopulated, but that's something the government is working hardly to fix in the meantime by building compounds, roads, bridges. But then in the summer people come to enjoy the beach and it's even more crowded. Overall, it's a good city but Egypt has much better cities.
