I'm currently staying in one of my favourite parts of the world, Northumberland. I really do love it up here but I can't decide if I like Northumberland the best or Norfolk, I do love both places, but for different reasons.
One of the reasons I love it up here is because of Holy Island, although as far as I know it's real name is Lindisfarne, this place goes back centuries and also has a castle built on an extinct volcano, it was also the first place the Vikings hit when they invaded way back when.
I've been here a few times, but I've never been 100 percent happy with the photos I'd taken until now, I popped over yesterday morning just after the tide went out and it certainly didn't disappoint.
I have to admit, I am certainly more than happy with these shots, I couldn't have asked for more. As I was taking them, it did start to rain, although it was really light rain, so I kept the camera out, it did get a bit wetter than I would have liked, but, wow!
Behind me was a massive rainbow and I had a plan to get to the other side of the castle and shoot it with the rainbow behind it, however by the time I got up to the castle the rainbow had just about gone, however, I couldn't have asked for better shots.
It was just breath taking, the pictures hardly needed anything doing to them as they looked that good from camera, the main thing I had to do was remove the water spots that had gotten on the lens with the light rain that was falling on the shoot.
I did also do a bit of experimenting as I was also doing a vlog with the DJI Osmo Action 5 camera, although I thought I'd done lots of recording and it turned out the camera was in still photo mode so basically I was talking to myself.
Here are a couple of shots I did with the Action 5, the one with the rocks on, I extended the selfiestick and rested it on a boulder that was out in the sea, but I could see that it would make for a good shot.
I am pretty impressed with the action 5, although this will not replace my A7iii, it was good to experiment with it.
To be there and witness this sunrise was one of the best mornings ever, I just couldn't believe how beautiful it looked, with the still waters that looked like a mirror, the sounds of all the wildlife, especially the birds and the the beautiful light, it was stunning turned up to eleven lol.
I really hope you've enjoyed the pics and the blog.
All the best :-)
Such a beautiful capture! 🌅 The castle looks majestic in that golden light. There’s something truly magical about this part of the UK — calm, raw, and full of character. I’d love to see it one day!
Damn, this is amazing. Such a beautiful location and photos. I wish these kinds of sunsets/sunrises happened more often.
Thanks @geddyforce I wish we had more, but I’m glad they don’t happen all the time, I’d never have a lay in bed if that was the case lol
