A Cascade Mountain

DSC00397.jpeg

This is Cascade Mountain, arguably Banff Park’s most famous mountain. Easily recognizable, and can be seen quite prominently from Banff avenue. These photos were not taken from Banff avenue, but from a nearby bridge, and then from further on down a side road. You cannot ski or snowboard down this mountain, but you can from the mountain just to its left, which is Norquay mountain. Cascade is quite tall, standing at about 3,000 metres or nearly 10,000 feet. As it turns out, the name Cascade is popular amongst North American mountains. There are “Cascade” mountains in Utah, New York, Washington, and British Columbia. Who knew?! Thanks for stopping by.

Beautiful shots, I love the snow covered peaks! I can see why you enjoy Banff so much. I have climbed the Cascades in Utah before, it's just over 10,000 feet... The mountain just north of it is Timpanogas at over 12,000 feet, climbed it too back in my younger years. Cascade is a popular name in mountains...

Glad to hear about your upcoming Radium adventure, that should be fun. I haven't gotten out as much as I would like this year, arthritis in my knee has slowed my mountaineering down a lot. So no gold exploration either this year..

I hope things are going great for you today!

I need to get down to Utah someday and check out those mountains! Do a Cascade comparison! What do you take for the arthritis if anything?

Your photographs give us a sense that we are now moving towards the winter season 😊

Beautiful pictures and excellent photography 👍

Thanks @asgharali. Hoping for warm temperatures to last for awhile anyways.

Wow, it's very beautiful, the pattern of the mountains is extraordinary, like a painting

Why can't you ski from up there? Is it because the terrain on the mountain is a bit rocky, rough and unpredictable?

There are no facilities built or in place to allow skiing. Only by helicopter, but that is likely impossible due to the terrain.
