Sometimes the journey can be greater than the destination. On the way to Red Rock Canyon and Blakiston Falls we had a few decent mountainous landscape views. I had to pull over several times on the side of the highway to captures these. What a wonderful afternoon it was, inside Waterton Lakes park, Alberta. Do you think the journey is sometimes better than the destination? Give us an example based on your experience. Thanks for stopping by and have a good weekend.

Hi @daveks
I like mountains, but I am also very fond of pictures with roads disappearring into the distance. Some of my favorite island photos are like that, and the pictures with undulating roads are the best.
I must admit I prefer color over black and white, but there are exceptions always because some subjects and lighting make black and white much more appropriate then color and create a special photo color couldn't match.
Yeah, I really like those types of photos too.
Not everyone can be a fan of black and white, which is perfectly fine!
Pulling over for views sounds like a good reason to take the long route.
I’m all about the journey, especially when not in a hurry.
Tienes toda la razón! A veces las mejores capturas ocurren en el camino y no en el destino final. Esas montañas en Alberta se ven majestuosas, valió la pena detenerse por ellas. Gracias por compartir
You're absolutely right! Sometimes the best shots happen on the road and not at the final destination. Those mountains in Alberta look majestic; it was definitely worth pulling over for them. Thanks for sharing
Yes, I'm sure glad I took the time to pull over and get some great shots.
I never had a journey better than the destination, usually my journeys are highways or plane lol
You definitely got a great views there
That is understandable! Not all journeys are created equally.
It must've been a very long walk by the main road where you can actually reunite with human civilization. Do you get to park a car outside and go back to it after the whole hike?
From the town of Waterton to red rock canyon is about 15 kilometres or so, via this road. Once you are there, a parking lot awaits and everything is quite close by surprisingly.
Wow, I was already imagining how far it is from the hike zone.
But so close!
It’s like stopping to smell the Roses…
Exactly.
Wow, the view is truly beautiful. The presence of white cloud fragments adds a luxurious vibe to the scenery.
A little bit of cloud fragment spices up the photo.
The journey can sometimes be coo, may need a CR450 on that road with that hill in the way
Right on, or one of those
