Lazy Hiker

DSC00345.jpeg

This little guy let me get close enough for a decent pic. Usually it is tough to approach a bird without it flying away on you. Here are a couple of photos on the way to the Redstreak campground, which is located just up and above the townsite of Radium. Usually when on a hiking trip I stay in inexpensive hotels/motels, seldom do I stay at a campground. I guess I just like the luxuries that come with it. I suppose I ought to try doing the campground thing more, however, as I tend to hike solo a lot, it just means more prepping and such. Ok, so I’m lazy lol. Thanks for stopping by.

This little bird must have been tired as well which is probably why it was resting on the tree. By the way, you captured a really nice photo.

Traveling a lot can be exhausting for people too and perhaps that's why you're feeling a bit lazy and prefer staying in hotels instead of camping 😉. Nevertheless, the experience and enjoyment of camping is something that even a five star hotel can't match.

Kids really enjoy camping, I think even more than adults at times. I really ought to give it another go when the timing is right.

I think shot of the bird looks a little bit zoomed in or cropped in, I'm not exactly sure. However, these are great pictures. You spend days on a hike? I thought it was always a one-day event

Yes, cropped it is. This was my third excursion on that one day. Very rare for me, probably never do something like that again -- but is was totally worth it.

I agree with you, it's difficult to approach a bird without it flying away; these animals are rather skittish. A very beautiful animal; I like how it looks in color.

I got lucky with this bird, doesn't happen often.

This is an adventure that is essential for all of us. If we cannot go here every day, then once a week we should definitely visit this place on our day off. By going here, we also get to learn a lot and our bones also become much stronger.

Yes it is good to get out and grab some exercise. Very good for the body.

Yeah you are right.

Yes, we call this a woodpecker as well, but think there is also a more technical name for it.
