Not Dog Lake

Just completed day two here in Kootenay Park, British Columbia. The weather here was phenomenal! Around 25°C give or take. The plan today was Dog Lake — kind of a funny name for a lake I must admit. The hike is a loop trail, which just touches the lake. Unfortunately there is not much of a shoreline to enjoy, but the lake itself is quite pretty. The hike takes approximately 2 hours to complete. For me though, it took about 3, as I am nursing a sore knee and of course taking a ton of photos. On the way back, I also hiked down to Sinclair Falls, which was a relatively quick out and back (30 minutes or so). Today I leave you with more Fall photos. Dog lake photos releasing in the coming months. Thanks for stopping by.

Beautiful trails with fall colors to get there though, can't ask for much more than that! Maybe there were a lot of coyotes or wolves near the lake when it earned it's name? Who knows? Those larch trees sure are bright yellow!

Possibly. I really ought to do a deep dive on why it is named Dog lake...

Dog lake, what a name lol, any reason?

I love the 3 yellow trees, them close and alone in the middle of green ones

No reason stated anywhere lol, definitely worth it though.

I liked reading about your day in Kootenay Park. Dog Lake really does have a funny name, but it sounds like a nice place. Sorry to hear about your sore knee, but I guess it gave you more time to take photos.

Had an excuse to stop more frequently and snap away! Thanks for looking.

The calming colors of autumn, simple yet very relaxing. Can't wait to see the beauty of dog lake. What a cute name.

Looking forward to releasing those photos in time. Thanks for looking.

The name is quiet funny😃 Dog lake,, but it's beautiful

Yeah, kinda a strange name.

The name is a mind stopper lol. The atmosphere in the images looks very peaceful and serene. Godspeed recovery on your knee :)

Thank you. Trying my best to keep going.

First time to hear such name of a lake but it's unique tho and I really love the surrounding plus the way you photographed it.

Thanks for looking.

Dog Lake- indeed pretty funny name! I wonder how this nomenclature came into existence!

Sorry to hear about your sore knee! Do some justice to them :)

Thank you thank you.

I love the scenery of the place and how beautiful 😍 it is.

It's a beautiful place for a hike and also a serene environment for a peaceful walk and communication with nature.

Indeed, very true. Nothing more serene than spending time at the lake.
