Season Transition

No, this is not a frozen section of the arctic, but a slice of partially frozen lake Minnewanka, here inside Banff Park. This is what April looks like, as the season changes from Winter to Spring. Even though temperatures were quite warm (T-shirt weather), the lake still had a fair bit of ice (although thin). It was a peculiar feeling to be here enjoying the outdoors, looking at what appeared to be “tundra” like cold, but in fact a moderate refreshing sunny outdoor experience. What a memorable day it was! Thanks for stopping by.

Those are beautiful mountains, that last mono shot is great, so much detail. It's funny how it can be warm out and the lake is still frozen over, just a testament to just how thick that ice gets in the winter time. I bet you're looking forward to that trip to Banff!

Yes I am. Fingers crossed for good weather. It is a bit of a crap shoot though for mid October! Let's see how lucky I am.

Great shots, the mountains are so beautiful especially when looking at them from a good distance. You nailed the angles too

Indeed, thanks!

In between seasons are always interesting to observe, one is giving way for the other, in this case winter for spring. The second image of that huge mountain looks amazing!

An earth in transition mode, fun to observe, up close and personal. Thanks for looking.

Wow nice photograph again as always I admire every photo you take

Appreciate that!

I love this view I wish I am there just see it with my eyes.

Being there in real life is always the best way to experience our Rockies. Photos are the next best thing.

The blue sky, ice and mountains combine beautifully in one frame, what a spectacular combination, a view that makes the heart cool.

Yes a combination of nature's handiwork, or I should say God's handiwork.

Very interesting the half melted ice! Sit there and fish could be fun to see what you catch

I'm sure you could pull something out of that cold water.

The view is stunning

It was, thanks.
