After hiking to the summit of North Star mountain (also known as Kimberley Alpine resort mountain), the next natural step is to begin the descent. Instead of tracing our steps back downward, the plan was to hike around the side, thus covering some new terrain, which is definitely more interesting than following in the same tracks as the ascent. So far this was turning into a great hike, sometimes I would wonder what it would be like to ski down this mountain in the Winter instead of hiking? Perhaps someday I will find out. Here are a few captures from the descent. Thanks for stopping by.

The idea of skiing here during winter would seem great, but I still think it would be a bit dangerous though, especially from how steep it looks, although I may be wrong. Great shots, hiking here just looks perfect.
No more dangerous than any other ski resort really, thanks for stopping by.
The clouds in the third picture look cool, as if they were specifically framing that leafless tree to make it the star of the show. Have a great weekend, my friend.
A view I had to capture when I saw it!
It's always nice to see new terrain, nice choice to take the other trail to descend. I guarantee the descent is much faster in winter on skis! That's part of the fun in skiing, the rush of speeding down those hills is an adrenaline rush! Beautiful shots as always, that's a beautiful place.
Looking forward to Canadian Thanksgiving already I bet?
Yeah, next week for the big turkey time, and my fav pumpkin pie..
Taking a new route on the way down is so much better than backtracking. It's fun to imagine skiing down that same mountain in the winter.
Skiing is a totally different sport than hiking as you know. Yes it would be fun!
Descending down from a high peak always hits different after a long climb up,,♥️
Yes, what is the point in tracing your steps back, none. Thanks for stopping by.
Skirting around the side of North Star on the descent instead of retracing the summit route, just to cover new terrain, is the kind of detour that makes the hike.
Planned detour it was, and it worked out well.
Smart call hiking around the side for new terrain instead of retracing your steps, and that same line would be a fun ski run.
Will need to check back in the wintertime someday.
Love the whole atmosphere
Thanks.
