Almost lost it!

in Photography Lovers2 days ago (edited)

Years in the making.

Having spent 24 hours in Whitby, I thought that I would get the drone up to get some shots that I'd been after for a few years, the reason it's taken so long is that every time I've been before, the light has been terrible or it's been to windy to get the shots that I wanted. However, on this occasion thins were different.

At the end of the day

We had a wonderful sunset and I just needed to get these shots, the good thing was that it was still light up until around 10pm as we were around the summer solstice, it had been raining on and off most of the day, but the night certainly made up for the bad weather. I still need to get back and redo a couple of shots that didn't work out right on this occasion, but I am more than happy with what I managed to shoot.

The sunset and the abbey

I also took my camera but like an idiot, I'd forgot to get the tripod out of the car, with where I was, I didn't have time to walk to the car and back as I would have lost the light, so decided to just shoot with the drone. The light was absolutely epic.

So after shooting the above shot, I brought the drone back in to land, anyhow, on the Mini 5 Pro (and mini 4 pro), there is a bright light underneath the drone, it automatically comes on in low light when you are landing, anyhow, it was really dazzling when I was trying to hand catch the drone, my hand wasn't underneath correctly, the drone shot forward one of the props caught me on the neck, it flipped over and thankfully landed in some long grass, if I was a step further back, the drone would have ended up over a fence and would have fallen down a drop. I picked it up checked everything, I also had to re-calibrate the compass, and thankfully everything was working fine. I felt so lucky to not have had anything damaged.

So sorry for lack of posts, but I should be posting more stuff in the next coming weeks, now I have plenty of pictures to post.

Thanks ever so much for reading,

All the best :-)

Thank you ever so much, I was using my DJI Mini 5 Pro for the shots.

Oh forgot to say, my mini 4 went faulty so I took it back to the shop, and exchanged it, I think it was about £900 ish, but was originally bought for me as a gift from my parents.

Wow, what a beautiful view, with the sun looking so beautiful.

Great shots. The evening light really glows. Good to hear the drone survived. I've not been to Whitby in a while.
