So nice up there
Fall is probably my favorite time of year. I am hoping to be able to get up into the canyon a few more times before all the leaves have fallen off of the trees. I found my drone that I had packed away and I will be charging it and hopefully heading up a different canyon tomorrow to get some pictures.
All of these photos are from the Squaw Peak Overlook up Provo Canyon. It is a pretty cool place to go and look out over Utah Valley. In a couple months, this area will not be accessible because it will be covered in snow. Hopefully it will be because we haven't had much snow the past few years, but as you can see, the mountain tops already have some snow on them, so that is usually a good sign.
This canyon road isn't as fun to drive as some of the others ones because there are a lot of blind turns, so you have to take it pretty slow. Otherwise you will crash into someone or go off the cliffsides. There are usually people walking along the road here as well, so driving fast isn't the best idea.
It would be a ton of fun to drive if the road was closed though because some of these turns would be fun to whip around.
Once you get to the top, there is a small parking lot that overlooks the whole valley. If you plan on going up here on the weekends, you will need to get there early because this area fills up fast. During the week, it isn't bad at all. I bet it gets crowded when the sun is setting though. It would be a really cool place to get sunset pictures too because the sun sets on the other side of the lake from this lookout.
There is a hiking trail that you can take to get away from the parking lot for some better views as well.
The colors were really cool up there. I really like the different shades of oranges, greens and yellows.
We had some rain the past few days, and that helped to clear the sky up from the pollution that sits in the air as it gets cold. During the winter, all the pollution just gathers and sits in the valley because it is like a bowl that holds it all in and the only way to get rid of it is with a storm and some strong wind.
It was pretty nice up there. It really bits sitting at home. I want to find a way to mount my GoPro on my car without messing up my paint and get some video of driving in the canyons. Alpine Loop is amazing this time of year and would be cool to get a video of that drive.
Anyways, I appreciate you stopping by and checking out my photos from Squaw Peak Overlook. I hope that you enjoyed them.
That looks like a pretty thrilling drive up the canyon, bet there are a lot of racers who go up there.
Do cars in the States not have to show their number plates?
We have a few people that always crash while they are racing in the canyons each year. They are stupid. My car is still new and I haven't received my license plates yet, but when I get them, I have to display them.
Wow! that's so different from UK, all our cars have to have their number plates on before its allowed on the road, the car dealer normally does all that by the time they deliver the new car to you
We have temporary paper plates that go in the back window until the hard plates come in.
All these photos are amazing! I want to use them as my desktop's wallpaper ❤️
Thanks. Go ahead and use them if you want.
