Cernuella virgata: the tiny traveler of rocky terrains

Greetings! Today he walked the city and came across such a "beast" 🐌 - a snail crawls quietly, apparently, feels that the warmth has come. Spring came! 😊 Did you see something interesting today?

This snail looks like a member of the genus Cernuella, and more specifically, it’s likely Cernuella virgata – the Mediterranean white snail. These snails are often found in warm regions and prefer dry, rocky areas, like the one in your photo. Their distinctive feature is a small, tightly coiled white shell, though it can darken over time, as seen in this specimen. These snails are quite common in Europe, especially in the Mediterranean, but they can also appear in other places due to introduction.
