Mattinata, one of the most beautiful and quiet villages in the area where we stayed during our vacation. Note the white color of the houses, characteristic of all southern Italy.
The most central beach in town. Next to it there is a small harbor but the water is still crystal clear, which I hope has been maintained over the years.
Baia delle Zagare is truly a wonderful place: a white beach that is not overly large and is characterized by stacks and natural arches that contribute to making the place truly unique, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches in the Gargano.

This particular type of rock is called a "falesia," which characterizes the entire Gargano area. Here in close-up detail, we also catch a glimpse of one of the characteristic caves
You have to go down quite a way to get to this beach, you can see it from the height of the ravine.

Another natural wall, but from another beach. We found it looking for a place near where we were staying, which was on the outskirts of town. The red color of the clay is beautiful
The sea of the beach close to home
Saffron flower, very appreciated in the kitchen and very expensive in the market, here it grows spontaneously in the clay. We found this particular plant coming back from the "red" beach.
There was a time when we used to travel a lot with my partner, I have a lot of photos saved from those trips and I think it's a good idea to give them visibility instead of having them hidden in my computer.
In this and in the next posts I will show you the images captured on a trip in September 2012 in Puglia, in the Gargano area, less known and frequented than the famous Salento but equally beautiful and full of places worth visiting.
