A Walk on the Peak Trail and the 'Y Not' Music Festival

in Photography Lovers10 months ago (edited)

Well, the sunny weather that was forecast didn't quite materialise, but at least it remained fine and dry for our walk on the Peak Trail.

The High Peak and Tissington Trails used to be railway lines. Nowadays, you can walk, cycle, or ride your horse on the trails.

My mum always used to say that it was going to rain if the cows were all laying down together. I think there's some truth in that.

In the distance, they were setting up for a local music festival. Back in 2006, a young lad who was still in the sixth form at school planned to celebrate the end of term along with his friends. Unfortunately, his parents had to cancel their planned holiday, so he had to think of another venue for the get together as his parents weren't privy to the party. After each of his friends paid £3 each, they hired out the local quarry down the road for their party. Some of his friends were in bands so they all provided the music.

This is how the 'Y Not' music festival started and now has approximately 15,000 music lovers attending in the little village of Pikehall in Derbyshire, UK. Source

The trail is approximately 17 miles long, but there's no way I was doing that! It was still a good walk, though, albeit shorter.
