We continued our walk where the old millstone quarry used to be, passing remnants of the past along the way.

There is a rockface at the bottom of the quarry. It is a popular place for rock climbing, although my feet stayed firmly on the ground.

At the bottom of the rockface is a small pond. Swimming about was a mallard duck and three female ducks, along with yellow wagtails flitting about from branches that had fallen in the water. I'm not sure how deep the pond is, and it's not the prettiest, but the birds have a safe haven here.

This is the base of a WWII spigot mortar which is an anti-tank weapon. It was made to defend the railway line down in the valley.

There was some kind of old stone water trough here as well.

It's surprising how many people still have barbecues or smoke while out in the countryside. In the summer when it is so dry, it doesn't take much for a fire to start.

I really liked the gnarly trees. They seemed to have a life of their own. The quarry is full of lovely silver birch trees.

We made our way back to the top. The colour of the trees down below looked very autumnal. The drop was a bit scary though.

At the end of our walk, I've always liked the look of this lone tree.

Really enjoyed this continuation of your walk. The old quarry has such a calm, timeless vibe and your description of it... 👏🏿 🔥 😮💨
Thank you @stevenson7. I could easily live down there. 😄
