At a local nature reserve we saw an egyptian goose with her goslings. Egyptian geese were introduced to the UK from Africa and are quite often seen at our nature reserves. I quite like their pink legs.
The goslings are very fluffy and cute. Even though the birds tend to nest from February to June, they have been known to start laying eggs as early as January. Unfortunately, some won't survive as it is far too cold.
Apparently, the geese were seen as sacred by eygptians and are often seen in their artwork. Source
They are nice looking birds. I always think their feathers look like a patchwork quilt as they have so many different colours and shades.
Hey! They look just like ours! Oh, I forget, we are in Africa and here we have them all over the place !LOLZ
Lovely photos Lady Ellen!
Ha ha. Yes, I'd heard they're quite common over there. 😀
At our old place we had a couple that came to eat in our garden every day and we named them Harry and Sally. We had much fun with them 😊
