the morning frost is the surest sign that winter is approaching and there's no way around it. the warmth of summer is long gone and won't be back for a good long while. the leaves are falling daily and piling up. though cold is coming it brings with it forms of beauty not present in warm conditions so we take the cold as it comes. the frost is just reminding us that it's time to start preparing
because any day now there could be snow. with any luck they'll also be nice sunny days with crisp dry air but for the most part the short days are likely to be dark, damp and dreary until the snow covers the ground and brightens up even the darkest night. meanwhile we make the best of it and enjoy nature's transitory designs at our feet
