this week's theme for Qurator Photo Quest is Wires.
the first thing that came to mind is overhead electric wires which are more often a nuisance rather than a focal point, so this inspired me to focus on another kind of wires, namely wire cables.
i took this series at an old ship's crane by the canal in the park which in days of old was a naval base here in town. this wire is obviously not the original wire from the crane. i have never seen it in use but it is maintained quite nicely. last year i posted a series of detailed shots of this crane but it is rather photogenic so i have taken shots of it in different conditions and none of the images presented here have been previously posted
