Textile And Fiber Art

in Photography Lovers10 months ago

Last year in April I visited a very cool textile and fiber exhibition, that made me want to create my own textile of fiber work, but have never had the time to start. Today I remembered I still have a few photos left from the exhibition, so I though I'd show you something cool. To my surprise, more and more Hive users tell me they like these exhibitions and I'm hoping some of you can start going to exhibitions and also start posting about them. Would be cool to see some art from wherever you are.

Ecaterina Marghidan - Dwarf Star

Funny how we see things. I have a routine when it comes to exhibitions. First I look at the artwork, allow myself a minute to think about what I see and for an idea. Then I look at the title, if there's any. That's the moment when I realize how wrong I was or the title answers my question, or explains what I didn't understand. And sometimes the title confuses me even more and I move on without knowing what I saw. That's life when it comes to art.

Here at first glance I thought I'm seeing the sun, but that was not the case.

Ecaterina Marghidean - Gray Dwarf

Somewhat similar to the first one, but yet very different.

20230411_124447a.jpg

Zoe Vida Porumb - Interference

You can see how these geometrical forms intersect. I remember I was looking at this piece, trying to figure out how it was made, but till this day I don't now, so it'll remain a mystery. It's nice though.

Enikő Bíró Kálmán - The Silk Road

This artwork wasn't 100% fiber. The pyramid was made of something solid and then covered with a white fabric I believe.

20230411_124739a.jpg

Sarolta Puskai - Zigzag Structures

At first glance I was a bit confused about this artwork as didn't know what I was looking at. To me, it qualified as origami, although I don't think it was. However, if you have a close look, you can see it's not a simple work and you need a lot of imagination, vision and practice as well, to create such a work.

Gabriella Gora Kovács - Sadness

This one made me thing of what I'm seeing and could not decide. Even after 10 months, I still don't know if I'm right, but regardless, it's a nice composition.

20230411_132237a.jpg

Could this be an eye? Or is it just me wanting to see an eye? What so you think? In any case, I love the colors.

20230411_132310a.jpg

Alexandra Mihaela Codrean - Childish

This was a super cool artwork in my opinion. It may be childish, but looks great. Those vivid colors are lovely. I can see it in a kid's room, making the wall more funny.

20230411_132332a.jpg

Radu Natalita Boeti - Composition

Maybe many of you don't know if the artist is a female or a male as this is a Romanian name and besides, I bet most of the people think only women are good at fiber and textile art, but the artist who created this artwork is a man. I must say, hats off in front of him as what you see here is a number of different techniques in one piece. You really need some talent to create such artwork.

20230411_132358a.jpg

Pan Yimiao - Geometry
Pan Yimiao - Parody
Pan Yimiao - Ceres

There were three artworks here, from the same artist. All three were green and kind of the same pattern layered shades.

20230411_132417a.jpg

Adelina Ungureanu - Meadow
Adelina Ungureanu - Grapes
Adelina Ungureanu - Peaches

Three embroideries from the same artist, but not the usual embroidery. I liked all three and I don't know which one I would choose. Most likely the one in the middle, which is the grapes.

20230411_132427a.jpg

Stefania Diaconu - Decorative Game

There were not many weaving artworks at the exhibition. This was a neat one for sure. I like how the colors look on the black background.

20230411_132446a.jpg

Maria Sandu - Composition With Dots

A different artist with a very cool weaving. I love how those dots are arranged and that two of them are not flat. Plus the orange color adds to the beauty of it.

20230411_132512a.jpg

Richard Marinesucu - Tapestry

An unusual patter, but then again, what is usual, right? Plus who wants usual? I don't, so this is interesting and nice too :)

20230411_132533a.jpg

Natalia Udrea Simona - Letter To An Unknown Person

The artwork itself is not surprising on its own, but when you look at the title, it gets interesting. Then you look at it again and start to notice the irregular rows and the black top, which can mean something special. It's a very interesting and mysterious concept.

20230411_132557a.jpg

Ioana Maier - Holiness

The theme is not new, we've seen crossed painted, carved, sculpted, no surprise there. But to use lace gloves to create a cross is new. I love it how the artist combined different crocheted lace shapes. Very original.

Ioana Maier - Grail

The Holy Grail is the cup from which Jesus Christ drank during the last supper. In common parlance, the Grail signifies a unique, distant goal. source

What i love about fiber and textile art is that it doesn't have to be so precise and it is not, as you can see. that's the beauty of it. Therefore I think it's easier to create something, but you don't know for sure, till you try it out.

Cristina Mocanu - Mermaid

This is it for today. Now let's see who likes this kind of art :)

What a very different exhibition to what we are used to seeing in the galleries, very original and brilliant 👏😍.

I will post in the next few days a very similar gallery I visited in my exhibition city... hope you like it @erikah

I'm glad to hear that and looking forward to it.

This kind of exhibition is nor rare, but not widespread either. Fiber and textile art is only a small niche when it comes to art and has a small fan base as well, but I love it.

Yes, in my city I also see that it has few followers but the work is appreciated.

Alexandra Mihaela Codrean - Childish is my favorite. So fun 🌞 As for the Gabriella Gora Kovács - Sadness work, I see a face inside a hooded shawl. With a scarf or probably long hair surrounding the face.

I'm glad you like childish, I find it very interesting and fun too.
Interesting what you say about "Sadness". It could be, who knows 🤔

These artworks are truly stunning! The creativity and skill behind each piece are truly remarkable. Thank you for sharing these beautiful works of art with us @erikah .💕

I think that's the case with each exhibition, but we see them differently based on personal preferences.

Love them all! I have been working with fibers for decades and am still in awe at the many ways they can be manipulated. It truly is an artform limited only by our own imagination.

It truly is an artform limited only by our own imagination.

That is very true my friend and I'm glad to read you're working with fiber. Maybe we can start creating art and post about it here... 🤔

Wow! These are very unique art. There's so many ways to be creative. I love how it stirs up the imagination and interpretation.

They say creativity has no limits, which is true and these exhibitions are the testimony of that.

Never been to an art museum or something like that, but hey, such crafts really are cool! Speaking of, since it inspires you, would we get the chance to see your work next? :D

Well, I have a few plans, but I'm really busy, so I don't think so. I'm hoping to find some time and create some art, as a way of relaxation but who knows.

Art needs not to be rushed, I believe. Just a gush of energy to act upon ideas (and the right time). I'll definitely look forward to what you'll make, whatever it is! Appreciating art is all.

These are quite beautiful
The Silk Road in particular
And I think sometimes art is subjective in interpretation 😅

Art is always subject to interpretation in my opinion.

what a beautiful work of art, I hope one day to see it in person.

Fingers crossed 🤞

Decorative Game and Composition With Dots are my favorite. Decorative Game looks like a darning pattern I saw recently. As for the Dots, I like that it looks like an upcycle project. Most of the pieces after these two look like upcycle art projects. Pretty darn cool. !LUV and !PIZZA

erikah, wanderingmoon sent you LUV. 🙂 (1/1) tools | trade | connect | daily

Made with LUV by crrdlx.

You're right about that and that's the beauty of it. You don't need expensive materials, like with oil painting and you can still create something amazing.

PIZZA!

$PIZZA slices delivered:

Those artworks are amazing!

Yes, they are.

Wow that was very nice art!I love all of them they have different characteristics and formation,I luv it!!😍😍

I'm glad to hear that.

Wow, these arts are really amazing, I was going to pick one as my favorite, but the more I kept reading down, I kept seeing more lovely designs. They are all unique in their own way. Thanks for sharing.

It's difficult to choose indeed. I play that game at every exhibition and it is rarely possible to pick one.

Handmade always creates beautiful products. Great photos.

Gray Dwarf made me show you this thing I have. I got it from an artisan from Cárdenas, Matanzas.

I really enjoyed this expo, Erikah.

Beautiful creation.

Love these! I have always been more drawn to words and sounds but I think if I ever got into visual art, it would be through fabrics and textiles.

I want to pick a favorite but there are at least 4 😆
