Photography - Introduction on me and "Still life photography". & my faviorite shots!

in Photography Lovers3 years ago (edited)

Hello reader and welcome to this first instalment of my visual arts / photography blog.

"A little about me and the "vision" or maybe lack of a clear "vision... about both me and this blog".

I know myself well enough that at times this will be anything like a "photographers educational" blog at all, my ADHD will keep me and hopefully a growing readers base with a lot´s of quality content. on variable subjects. However, to begin with I will focus on photography.

Not in any way claiming to be a professional, I am a passionate amateur photographer, and maybe even an "artist" well some say creative and artistic, I guess you'd have to be making money from art to call your self an "artist" that is as an occupational description.

Today I will focus shortly on "still life photography" using the images from a steemit.com blog post of mine as well as making an overhaul on the written portion, in light of increased ambition and skill sets since. well even that blogpost was written.

Still life" photography".

A still life, is a work of art that focuses on inanimate subjects, most of the time commonplace.

But your "efforts" and "job" as a photographer is to visualize, think of colour compositions within the frame, what atmosphere are you trying to create? The right setting & lighting, are incredibly important in the process of creating a visual experience that can ignite an emotion and feelings.

Decide upon picturing an item in your surroundings, an item that you somehow usually look towards, or "notice".

Try shooting that same "subject" in many ways, settings or arrangements. And do experiments in the "after-work".

Take a look at this antique pocket watch, the printed, glorious and prestigious version of it standing on my best friends desk at work1

****"Time I".****

This next image is the same rusty but ligninisable pocket watch. It is the so-called "subject" or "centrepiece" is also a good word to describe the watches in this "portrait like still life" photo series. There we see more of the watch itself, but the biggest difference is the background. For this shot I simply put the watch on a cut stone glass coaster, the roughness and texture of the background are fascinating. And something to really keep in mind during "still life" photo shoots.

"Time II".

The third piece of today's display. I have done "all-in ball-in" on the digital after work.

"Time III".

It's important to experiment, and not be afraid to make "mistakes", some things work out atheistically, while others just don't. Try out whatever comes to your mind. Develope "your style" and make it more diverse.

And it really is good to exercise the creative muscle coming up with new compositions.

A good still life is a great asset in every photographers' portfolio.

Here are some "different styles" of mine.... beginning with definitely one of my all-time favourite photographs of mine.

"Lena"

lenaj.png

This photo is named "Lena".

It is named as a tribute to my best friend Lena. It was shot while staying at her house while going through some pretty tough times. It reminds me of her grace! Beauty and mercy, as well as strength and passion!

The fact that the rose is dry. For me represents the "endlessness" of real friendship.

The Next image is a complete reverse from the simplicity & grace of "Lena".

This one. It's a lot more "punk"... "aggressive" in maybe a "creepy" way. Or if you have the humour for it, it's very funny.
I named it "the Serb", as the mask comes from Serbia, and it's very eastern European in theme.

"The Serb"

Then we have very different photos, both having pretty much the same after work. This one I actually hot after my neighbour went "berserk" and broke his guitar on the floor, on the floor above me… it's "real", but "dreamy".

"After the anger passes"

tedf.png

This dreamy semi lucid image was shot when i slept over at my grandmothers house, and of course bears the title...

"Lucid"

kkk.png

And then at last, two still - life shot this year, after my life and luck are changing. I shoot them both at my new girlfriends house, early this year. Full of hope and optimism. The thing they have in common is "pink", but both I feel are cheery and "delightful" as well as the later one is full of "safety".

Try thinking of "feelings" that you want for your still life project, as you shoot. But also when seeing the final result. It is great to use these feelings for "tags" later if you publish your work through a big internet database.

"Nelly-fur-ta-do".

And then. Last but always first for me, a piece named after my beutyful, kynd, creative & intelligent, smart. And super sexy new girlfriend, Amanda.

If you are interested in photography but don't know where to begin. Or maybe the high cost of good quality equipment has been keeping you from your dream of pursuing it.

"Still life" photography might be the answer for you, as you can use what is in your immediate surroundings, and it really does not require fancy equipment, nor studio with all the newest equipment.

A decent camera and almost all the new smart phones are absolutely good enough.

I encourage you to try it out, and when and if you do. I hope you post it in the comment thread belove for me to take a look!

Thank you, all who have read through this first blog post of mine, I hope that it shows the world from an amateur's photographers perspective.

You have to try this all! Over working the images, taking a hole month only shooting black & white. Even googling for educated & informative, researched material that could straight accept and route for fear of me. Most of these souls the formulas for standardized, acceptable, decent, comfortable way of living!

Which one is your favourite? Please tell me in the comments.

This post was originally posted on my steemit photography blog.

"a blog moving to the hive network one article at a time". as well as new stuff. so i would be honoured by a like or a follow, yopur friendship and kynd suggestions and tips on my photography!

Have a great day and stay safe!

I enjoyed your detailed description on process. I like the last watch image and lucid. I wasn't aware that we could recycle our old blog posts from steemit.com. I thought that was not allowed per original content. If that is not so, I have some digging to do!! Reblogged.

i worked this piece out of that one, images have been there, but post is original, worked with a little re-work... i deffinatly tought that was allowed

but thank you for your kynd words, i will follow in hopes you do the same, i would like too see those steemit posts re made... its amazing how much better you can write a text, so much better one year later for example.

have a wonderful day!

eythor-photo.png

That's awesome! Again, love your photography and edits with your thoughts on the how and why. Take care!

Welcome to the Hive community @eythorphoto!
We sincerely hope you find everything you are looking for and have found a new home here.

Seven suggestions to consider:

  1. Guard your passwords carefully, and only publish with the posting key,
  2. Use your active key only for wallet transactions, keychain and Peaklock,
  3. The owner password is only used to reset compromised passwords,
  4. DO NOT lose your passwords; copy and store offline,
  5. Do not publish other people's work, be it photos or written, without credit, and be sure to source all of your work, even if it is your own.
  6. An introduceyourself tag is used only once , and
  7. Do Not open any links in memos or comments that you do not know who they belong to. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, so the old saying goes. There is nothing free here.

I found you because @brittandjosie and @jamerussell from @heyhaveyamet presented and promoted your publication to get more exposure and help you grow faster.

If you find yourself overwhelmed and need some guidance, or if you have any questions, there are informed Hivians available who can help you; you can click to go to The Terminal in Discord here:

Have fun and happy Hiving!
