Capturing Fog right after Sunset with Long Exposures on Bolinas Ridge in California

I took these photos on the Bolinas Ridge in Mt Tamalpais State Park last summer. The ridge looks out over the pacific ocean and it's common to have a low fog rolling in and getting held up on the ridge. It's a very popular spot for photographers as it's only about 25 miles north of San Francisco.

I was rushed and scrambling to capture that light and I'm not sure if I didn't notice my ISO was at 200 or what, but I wasn't doing long enough exposures and I was aware of that or else I wouldn't have cranked all the way up to F22. I don't think going to ISO 100 would have made a huge difference but it's interesting that I missed that in the moment none the less. Eventually I had my settings sorted and was using longer exposure times with lower apertures resulting in much cleaner fog waves. Of course by this time, the light was no longer reflecting off the fog. Lesson learned and next time I find myself at a similar scene I'll know exactly what to do.

OMG these are some amazing photos! I would give anything to be able to shoot rolling fog but we don't have that were I live...
