I'm nostalgic for Summer time, especially because these days I'm not well, I got the typical cold of the Winter season, in Rome it's cold and raining and I just want to go back to relive and photograph the sea and September's sunsets. I realized that I have never published any shots that date back to a weekend in September which I spent in my beloved place of the heart, Terracina. Saturday was hiking day to Mount Circeo, up to the peak.
On our return we abandoned ourselves on the beach and before leaving to go home, my eyes were kidnapped by the canal that runs alongside Torre Paola; the reflections of light on the water given by the sun setting down created a beautiful game of colors and shades. Even more intriguing for my camera was the passage of a rower in the canal, towards the sea.
I have always appreciated rowing as a sport, it is very similar to swimming in some ways, in the sense that it is still an endurance sport, it is often individual, even if it is not a rule, you use practically the whole body to be effective enough and move forward as quickly as possible.
We spent the golden hour but the sunset was still ours, still mine and the camera's. I made the most out of it with the beautiful view that never tires me, the one from the Temple of Jupiter in Terracina, which overlooks the coast of the Golfo Sereno, culminating with Mount Circeo. It's amazing how certain views never manage to bore you. I have been going to that place for more than 20 years, to that same spot, yet every time it is different, every time the sky and the sea always show you new colors and beauties, giving a new look to the landscape. Cristian admired the landscape enveloping himself in a thousand thoughts, typical of that Summer ending time. He served me as a model to bring out even more all that magnificence which dazzled us. I was unable to stop photographing practically until night, or in any case until the time when, in a hurry, we had to leave because we had a table booked for dinner with some friends! 😄 Everything eautiful , beautiful sunset, beautiful view, etc... but how wonderful is it to eat well and in good company?! This is what we are, Italians to the core!
What is your favorite part of the sunset? I love that moment just before it gets completely dark, when you can still see the flames of the sun's rays that have now gone down, beyond the horizon, and the night is taking over, giving space to the lights of the city, the moon and, when we are lucky, even the stars.

Sono nostalgica dell'estate, soprattutto perché in questi giorni non sto bene, ho il classico raffreddore della stagione invernale, a Roma fa freddo e piove e io vorrei solo tornare a rivivere e fotografare il mare e i tramonti settembrini. Mi sono resa conto di non aver mai pubblicato degli scatti che risalgono ad un weekend di settembre che ho trascorso nel mio amatissimo posto del cuore, Terracina. Il sabato è stato il giorno dell'escursione al monte del Circeo, fino al picco.
Al ritorno ci siamo abbandonati sulla spiaggia e prima di andare via verso casa, i miei occhi sono stati rapiti dal canale che costeggia Torre Paola; i riflessi di luce sull'acqua dati dal sole che si stava abbassando creavano un bellissimo gioco di colori e sfumature. Ancor più intrigante per la mia macchina fotografica è stato il passaggio di un canottiere nel canale, verso il mare.
Ho sempre apprezzato il canottaggio come sport, è molto simile al nuoto per certi versi, nel senso che è comunque uno sport di endurance, spesso è individuale, anche se non è una regola, e utilizzi praticamente tutto il corpo per essere abbastanza efficace ed andare avanti nel minor tempo possibile.
Abbiamo passato la golden hour ma il tramonto era ancora nostro, ancora mio e della mica macchina fotografica. L'ho sfruttato al massimo con la bellissima vista che non mi stanca mai, quella dal Tempio di Giove a Terracina, che affaccia sul litorale del Golfo Sereno, culminando col Monte Circeo. E' incredibile quanto certe viste non riescano mai ad annoiarti. Sono più di 20 anni che vado in quel posto, in quello stesso punto, eppure ogni volta è diversa, ogni volta il cielo e il mare ti regalano colori e bellezze sempre nuove, donando un nuovo volto al panorama. Cristian ammirava il paesaggio avvolgendosi di mille pensieri, tipici dell'estate che sta finendo. Mi è servito come modello per far risaltare ancora di più tutta la magnificenza che ci abbagliava. Non sono riuscita a smettere di fotografare praticamente fino a notte, o comunque fino all'ora in cui, di corsa, siamo dovuti andare via perché avevamo un tavolo prenotato a cena con degli amici! 😄 Bello tutto, bello il tramonto, il panorama eccetera... ma quanto è meraviglioso mangiar bene e in ottima compagnia?! Questo siamo, italiani fino al midollO!
Qual è la parte del tramonto che più preferite? Io adoro quell'attimo poco prima che faccia completamente buio, quando ancora riesci a vedere le fiamme dei raggi del sole che è andato ormai giù, oltre l'orizzonte, e la notte sta prendendo piede lasciando spazio alle luci della città, della luna e, quando siamo fortunati, anche delle stelle.
