My garden is full of garden weaver spiders, some bigger than others, some that I had never observed and other regular visitors, who come to settle even for months, the truth is that I think I should fumigate hahaha, but, on the other hand I think they are really beautiful, harmless to us and beneficial to plants, because these 8-legged friends are bio regulators and end with some of the pests that attack my plants, although, to be honest there are days when they are somewhat annoying spider webs that tend to weave, especially when I try to harvest some plants, so I usually release their webs and thus they move to other parts of the garden.
Countless orchard spiders, and a few baker spiders have been seen, but the queens of the place are undoubtedly the tiger spiders, in sight and showing their large size are about 4 females, I have seen just a couple of tiny males, and when you see them in detail, the difference is really abysmal; it is said that males can reach 0. 80 cm while the females 2.5 cm, this without counting the length of their legs, and it is also very likely that these males after copulation serve as food for these giants, the truth is that these are quite brave males, or perhaps very innocent to want to look for a girlfriend after knowing that such things happen.
Most garden weaver spiders are popular for weaving a kind of zigzag reinforcement in their webs, this type of weaving is called stabiliments, and they serve to warn larger animals such as birds, so that they are seen and thus do not take them ahead as they pass by, as their webs are almost imperceptible, some say that these stabiliments are reflective in the sun, the truth is that I have not noticed it. These argiope argentata, are really fast to weave these webs or deadly traps for insects, and usually spend most of their lives upside down waiting for their prey. They don't usually weave their nets more than a meter high, although I must say that one of the 4 that are at home, is more than 2 meters high, let's say that this one is a lover of danger.
We find them almost always in the shape of an X, except when they are eating, or wrapping up one of their victims, for which I must say that they are really fast, they usually wrap them up and leave them like that to eat them later. They are harmless to humans, however, for their small victims they are poisonous, in fact, they try to be hidden from humans, but at home they seem to have lost that fear, because they are in sight. It is likely to find some parasitic spiders, which benefit from their captured prey, as they eat from them. They are usually tiny, so they do not represent a danger to these tiger spiders, and because of their size, they will not eat much of their food, so there is no problem in sharing their booty.
I could not help but play a little with these photographs, the truth is that I have photographed a number of these tiger spiders and I had not stopped to play with selective coloring in them, the truth is that even when we see them in a full color photo, it is easy to detect their striking colors and know why they are called tiger spiders, so applying selective color in these photographs did not represent a big difference, although the colors always stand out more in a monochromatic background, of that I do not have the slightest doubt.

Incontables arañas de huerto, y unas cuantas arañas panaderas han sido vistas, pero las reinas del lugar sin duda son las arañas tigre, a la vista y mostrando su gran tamaño están unas 4 hembras, he visto apenas un par de diminutos machos, y es que cuando los ves en detalle, la diferencia es realmente abismal; se dice que los machos pueden llegar a medir 0.80 cm mientras que las hembras 2.5 cm, esto sin contar la longitud de sus patas, y además es muy probable que estos machos luego de la copula sirvan como alimento para estas gigantes, la verdad es que estos son unos machos bastante valientes, o quizá muy inocentes como para querer buscar novia luego de saber que pasen ese tipo de cosas.
La mayoría de las arañas tejedoras de jardín son populares por tejer una especie de refuerzo en forma de zigzag en sus telas, este tipo de tejido es llamado estabilimentos, y sirven para advertir a animales más grandes como pájaros, para que sean vistas y de esta manera no se las lleven por delante a su paso, ya que sus telas son casi imperceptibles, algunos dicen que estos estabilimentos son reflectantes en el sol, la verdad es que no me he percatado de ello. Estas argiope argentata, son realmente rápidas para tejer estas telas o trampas mortales para insectos, y suelen pasar la mayor parte de su vida cabeza abajo esperando por sus presas. No suelen tejer sus redecillas a más de un metro de altura, aunque debo decir que una de las 4 que están en casa, está a más de 2 metros de altura, digamos que esta es una amante del peligro.
Las encontramos casi siempre en forma de X exceptuando cuando están comiendo, o envolviendo alguna de sus víctimas, para lo cual debo decir que son realmente veloces, suelen envolverlas y dejarlas así para comerlas luego. Son inofensivas para los seres humanos, sin embargo, para sus pequeñas víctimas son venenosas, de hecho, tratan de estar ocultas para los humanos, pero en casa parece que perdieron ese miedo, pues están a la vista. Es probable encontrar algunas arañas parasitas, que se benefician de sus presas capturadas, ya que comen de ellas, por lo general son diminutas, por lo que no representan un peligro para estas arañas tigres, y por su tamaño tampoco es mucho lo que van a comer de su alimento, razón por la que no hay mayor problema en compartir su botín.
No podía dejar de jugar un poco con estas fotografías, la verdad es que he fotografiado un buen número de estas arañas tigre y no me había detenido a jugar con el coloreado selectivo en ellas, la verdad es que aun cuando las vemos en una foto a todo color, es fácil detectar sus llamativos colores y saber porque reciben el nombre de araña tigre, así que aplicar color selectivo en estas fotografía no representaba una gran diferencia, aunque siempre resaltan más los colores en un fondo monocromático, de eso no me queda la menor duda.
