That's some serious damage on your friend's head! I'm happy though that you were prepared and took care of him fast! I've only harmed my arms and knees but far from being so serious!
Anyway, I've never seen glacier rocks so I'm totally fascinated by those pictures! Looks like a great journey overall but with a higher sense of being careful where you are stepping.
Fortunately, the damage was not too serious. But it was scary, yes. In any case, injuries are always unpleasant.
Glaciers are always very beautiful! I've seen a few and always the experience was just wow! Hope you can see them with your own eyes :) And yes, we definitely need to be careful on them.
