Hydrangeas are really cool, the foliage and blooms. I don't have any personally, but we have them here of course and I'll get some eventually. For me it's a space thing; I have quite a bit but I'm not one to like cluttered spaces so am quite strategic with what I bring in. Moving something out to bring in some hydrangeas is not on the cards just now.
They always seem like a happy plant to me, sort of bursting with energy. A shame yours were a little brutalised...would covering them have helped?
Covering? Probably not. The freeze was too deep. In the 30 years living here, this is my first time wiht this level of freeze and hydrangea issues.
Yeah, I get it...well I don't because my area doesn't have that problem, although we get frost and a nice little covering over the plants that are prone saves the day.
Last summer's bloom!
