Botanical Garden Belgrade
I already wrote about the botanical garden once, when I took my students on a trip. Last weekend my son and I went for a walk. You don't believe it, but it's all the same. I admire people who take care of all the plants, especially those in the greenhouse. Cacti grow in the same place for years. They don't move them to change something. It's hard for plants too when you move them from one place where they've been for years, just like humans.
When I think about where I would go every day, to rest my mind, to hear the chirping of birds in spring and the rustling of leaves in autumn, it would definitely be the Jevremovac Botanical Garden in Belgrade. It was named after Jevrem, the brother of the ruler Prince Miloš Obrenović, who donated his property to the city of Belgrade, but on the condition that a large park and botanical garden be built there.
I have been there many times, but whenever I was either with my family or with my students, the cacti were the ones that most attracted visitors, including me.
They are grown in a greenhouse where all the conditions, humidity and heat that cacti love are provided.
I don't know how many species there are, but I will show you what I photographed and what I always photograph when I come to the garden. Nothing changes. Time stopped there. My only regret is that the greenhouse is closed when the cacti are in bloom. I don't know the reason, but I think that sight would be enchanting. This way, it's always the same, but it always amazes visitors.
Enjoy this beauty.
