About a week ago we got another pretty good aurora action in the skies which I tried to capture. We actually had lights yesterday too but there were too many clouds so I didn't bother. A week ago however we had a perfectly cloudless sky above so it was the best time to chase some northern lights.
At first, I was just outside the front of my home to test if I saw something, yes I did.

After a short while the lights subsided and I went back home. Some an hour later I saw from the live cameras that the activity had picked up again. I went out again but I walked to the nearby field to get just a bit darker scenery.
At first, there was just a big arch of glow in the sky but I didn't see actual lines or movement.

Also, some red color was visible.

I stood there for about half an hour, waiting for the lights to pick up intensity. This is a huge waiting game because it can happen very suddenly when the lights get very bright. Sometimes it doesn't happen and the time is pretty much wasted. I was already thinking about going back home but then, all of a sudden the action really picked up.

I saw some really good lights dancing in the whole of the northern sky for about half an hour before all the action subsided suddenly again. Not before I got the following photos too.

I also took several time-lapse videos but these are only about 9 seconds long in total. I will upload the video at some point too but I think I will wait for the next time when I see some great aurora in the sky too and capture some additional footage so I have a bit longer video to bring to you.

Really beautiful! The lights on the last photos look like almost like paintings.. It's such a pity that we can't see them from Slovakia. I'm coming from the east where there are not so many places and most of the area is covered by the woods, so it's great for observing the night skies.. but well, with no northern lights 😐
It's possible to see the northern lights in Slovakia even though rare I have heard. Somebody filmed it earlier this year during a strong magnetic storm.
These usually stay near the horizon in Slovakia so yeah it's hard to spot these in fully wooded areas.
This view is really looking very beautiful and the color is also very beautiful.
Yeah, for sure.
I hope I can see this with my own eyes one day and capture it as well. It's lovely.
I hope you can too, such a sight and fun to photograph.
