Back in mid-June, I went on an evening walk to just get some steps in and possibly take some photos along the way. I chose to go to the fields that are about 15 minutes from my home, near a town in Northern Estonia called Muraste.
Having walked only for a short while, I quickly noticed that a field was actually very colorful by flowers. Not only one kind of flower but so many different ones. I decided to find all the different flowers I could see there and take a photo of those.
I'm not very knowledgeable about flowers, so I'm going to use the help of ChatGPT to identify what I found in the field.
Sea rocket. Usually grows in sand and seaside habitats. I was not on the seaside, though, granted not too far off, about 3 or 4 kilometers.
Eastern pasqueflower(Pulsatilla). This flower blooms purple in the spring, but here, its time is over already. The seeds are still there that get carried along with the wind.
Wood anemone. These usually grow in the forest, as the name also indicates, but this time I found these in a field.
Let's go with more white flowers. This is Dropwort / Meadowsweet.
This is a small hogweed, which is not poisonous if only for small amounts. Unlike Giant Hogweed wwhich is very poisonous and can also be found in Estonia.
Moving on to the yellow flowers I found on this field. These are Buttercups.
Wild mustard.
Biting stonecrop. It didn't bite me but it should be mildly toxic if eaten fresh.
Purple beauty, Ragged-Robin.
So I found 9 different flowers on my walk on this small patch of the field. I'm sure there were more flowers to be found but I didn't go walking in tall grass outside the path.
Here are some more regular shots I took on my walk.
I wonder, if I went on a flower discovery walk now in mid-September... Would I find anything anymore, some late bloomers or something.
The only way to find out if something else is blooming is to move into the field :) Yes, I'm trying to motivate you to act ;) Very nice shots with a pleasant blur. You really found a lot of those flowers.
Heh, good motivation, thanks! I wish there were fewer ticks everywhere😄
What a lovely walk! The flowers sound beautiful, and it’s great how you used ChatGPT to identify them. Makes me wonder what other blooms you’ll discover as the seasons change
Yeah, we will see, but I'm not sure I find blooming flowers too much in the fall season.
Great shots, everything nature offers us is undoubtedly a perfect subject for photography.
