What the Egg?
Simplicity is often called the ultimate sophistication (I think it was Davinci). Following that concept, the next image is all you need to see. But hey why stop there? When you have your setup working for you just add some features and see what works once you sit on your PC and look at the images enlarged.
Einfachheit wird oft als die ultimative Raffinesse bezeichnet (Davinci wars). Diesem Konzept folgend ist das nächste Bild alles, was Ihr sehen müsst. Aber warum dort aufhören? Wenn du dein Setup für dich arbeiten lässt, einfach noch paar Lichteffekte dazu und schau, was funktioniert, wenn du an deinem PC sitzt und dir die Bilder in groß ansiehst.
Not the moon!
What started as a simple play with the egg on the table then quickly escalated into a full-blown session/obsession, lasting for an hour or so. What do you think about my results?
Was als einfaches Spiel mit dem Ei auf dem Tisch begann, eskalierte schnell zu einer ausgewachsenen Session/Obsession, die etwa eine Stunde dauerte. Was denkst du über meine Ergebnisse?
Setup on my Dining Table
Here you see literally everything I used to create the images. Super simple no fancy apparatus. Not even a tripod.
Also: Only one single Egg was broken in the creative process and could not join me for breakfast the next morning. Very sad!
Hier seht Ihr buchstäblich alles, was ich verwendet habe, um die Bilder zu erstellen. Ganz einfach wie du siehst. Nicht einmal ein Stativ.
Außerdem: Nur ein einziges Ei wurde im kreativen Prozess zerbrochen und konnte mir nicht am nächsten Morgen zum Frühstück Gesellschaft leisten. Sehr traurig!
Test Run | Setting for the session?
Just to quickly understand the lighting condition I had a few test runs. Settling for F22 for my Sigma 105mm Macro and the Camera set to ISO 100 I had what I needed to start the play. When the technicalities are out of the way only then Creativity can roam free.
All Light Paintings are single exposures that range between 10-30 seconds depending on how much time I took to apply the light effects.
Um die Lichtverhältnisse schnell zu verstehen, machte ich einige Testfotos. Am Ende wars für F22 für mein Sigma 105mm Macro und ISO 100 die Kamera und dann hatte ich, was ich brauchte, um die Session zu beginnen. Als so das Technische geklärt war, konnte Ich der Kreativität erst freien Lauf lassen. Alle Light Paintings sind Einzelaufnahmen, die 10 - 30 Sekunden dauerten, abhängig davon, wie viel Zeit ich für die Lichteffekte benötigte.

Optical Fiber Brush
Always a good start is when I use the Black Optical Fiber Brush. Or better a small tiny version I built. It's much smaller and lets me apply light more controlled and precise. The tool is not yet perfect but a good start. What's not so good? The fibers are too stiff when so short. So I will create another version to get more flexible fibers for the next session.
Ein guter Start ist immer, Black Optical Fiber Brush. Oder besser gesagt, eine kleine winzige Version, die ich gebaut habe. Sie ist viel kleiner und ermöglicht es mir, das Licht kontrollierter und präziser anzuwenden. Das Werkzeug ist noch nicht perfekt, aber ein guter Anfang. Was nicht so gut ist? Die Fasern sind zu steif, wenn sie so kurz sind. Werde also für die nächste Session noch eine neue Version mit flexiblere Fasern bauen.

I placed the egg on my phone to get that partial reflection of the egg. On top of that, I worked out a Kick-Light from behind the egg in the right balance with the light from the top and sides. The idea was to get a small 'seethrough-effect' or X-ray of the egg.

Hier Ich habe das Ei auf mein Handy gelegt und so partielle Reflexion des Eies bekommen. Dann habe ich ein Kick-Light hinter dem Ei platziert, im richtigen Gleichgewicht mit dem Licht von oben und von den Seiten. Die Idee war, einen kleinen "Durchsicht-Effekt" oder Röntgenbild vom Ei zu bekommen.
Well and of course a quick run for the Fiber Brush has to be tested as well.
Selbstverständlich musste auch ein schneller Lauf mit der Fiber Brush getestet werden.
Forks
We all coming from Steem with the Hard Fork to Hive. So we all have a different thing in mind when it comes to forks. I look for something different here and now.
Well we've all seen images of eggs on forks. So I kind of had to test that as well. I am not super convinced of the story with the eggs and the forks but it made the egg stand up straight. So here is my 'Forky' take on eggs.
Von Steem mit dem Hard Fork zu Hive wechselnd, haben wir alle sofort etwas anderes im Kopf beim Wort - Fork. Ich suche hier aber etwas anderem.
Nun, wir haben alle Bilder von Eiern auf Gabeln gesehen. Also musste ich das auch mal testen. Ich bin nicht super überzeugt von meiner Komposition mit den Eiern und den Gabeln, aber steh das Ei. Hier ist also meine 'Forky'-Variante vom Ei.
This is almost my favorite of the Egg-dance session. I do love the effect of the shadows and the visible fibers because they provide the impression of depth. I wish I had done a few more of this because on the PC this looked way cooler than on the display of the camera.
I will need to play with that effect more in the future.
Das ist fast mein Favorit meiner Eiertanz-Session. Ich liebe den Effekt mit den Schatten und den sichtbaren Fasern, es kreiert so die Illusion von Tiefe. Ich wünschte, ich hätte noch ein paar mehr davon gemacht, denn auf dem PC sah das viel cooler aus als auf dem Kameradisplay. Ich werde in Zukunft mehr mit diesem Effekt spielen müssen.
Macigal Golden Egg
Golden Steam coming off of the egg. Some light from left and right, leaving some empty space for the fiber brush effect to work its magic, and then it was done.
The only difficulty was not to kick the egg off of the forks. Super delicate construction here.
Goldener Dampf, der vom Ei aufsteigt. Ein wenig Licht von links und dann von rechts, so gibts etwas leeren Raum für den Effekt mit der Fiber Brush, und dann fertig.
Die einzige Schwierigkeit bestand darin, das Ei nicht von den Gabeln zu stoßen. Äußerst fragile Konstruktion, will ich hier betonen.

Ich war schon ein bisschen gespannt wer als erstes an Ostern denkt. Weihnachten ist durch! Also Frohe Ostern mein Liebster. Nächste Woche gibt's ja dann auch schon die Schoki-Osterhasen im Edeka. Kaufland, Rewe und Aldi. Oder wie die alle heißen.
