Dramatic Shadow Exploration - Light Painting exercise
Remember Mike Oldfield? "Shadow On The Wall" This was the lead mindset for the next photos. Well, you can only cast a shadow when you got the light!
You saw my images from Barcelona where I met up with Xiao Yang. We visited a few things and this was the second location called Torre del Comte de Fígols which is located about 1.5h outside of Barcelona.
As part of my favorite set of Light Paintings shots of the night. On the side, you get some more graffiti. The specialty here is that for these Light Paintings I really had to run up and down the stairs to get to the rooftop of the building and back down where the camera was.

Vor ein paar Tagen habt Ihr ja meine Bilder aus Barcelona gesehen. Zusammen mit Xiao Yang besuchte ich einige Locations, der zweite war Torre del Comte de Fígols, etwa 1.5h außerhalb von Barcelona.
Teil des coolsten Light Painting Sets dieser Nacht seht Ihr hier. Das Besondere an diesen Bildern ist, dass ich für diese Light Paintings ist das Schattenspiel und das Ich wirklich alle Treppe hoch und runter rennen musste, um auf das Dach des Gebäudes und zurück zu gelangen.

The featured shot was taken from the ground of the first floor of the building. Placed in the center of the back of the main hall looking up. Here I could not shoot landscape mode but upwards so the view leads all the way to the rooftop of the building. To create the shadow effects used the doors on the bottom floor rooms to the side and all the window frames on all sides to cast shadows on the opposite side.
So that means I ran up to each story and circled the entire floor. While doing so I was throwing the light to the other side of the hall and cast the shadow of the window frames to the other side.
Just have a closer look.
Die Hauptaufnahme am langen Ende der Halle im ersten Stocks des Gebäudes aufgenommen. Sehr cool war das diese bis zum Dach des Gebäudes führt. Um die Schatteneffekte zu erzeugen, bin ich in die Räume rechts und links um die großen Schatten zu werfen und dann habe ich die Fensterrahmen jeder Seite ausgenutzt, um Schatten auf die gegenüberliegende Seite zu werfen. Das heißt also, ich rannte in jedes Stockwerk und umkreiste die gesamte Etage. Dabei warf ich das Licht auf die andere Seite der Halle und die Schatten der Fensterrahmen zeichneten sich an der anderen Seite ab.

What were the settings?
What you see is a featured Light Painting is a single 334-second loooooong exposure time photograph. The camera was always set to ISO 100 and the Lens to F11.
Similar to my previous post here was important to notice how you get the shadows. Make sure you don't move too much the position of the light itself. If you want more hard shadows. I did not want perfect lines but also to get some light in the darker areas.

Wie beim letzten Beitrag, ist hier wichtig, zu beachten, wie Ihr die Schatten herausarbeitet. Stellt sicher, dass Ihr die Lampen nicht zu viel hin und her bewegt, wenn Ihr harte Schatten wollt. Ich wollte keine perfekten Linien, sondern auch etwas Licht in die dunkleren Bereiche bringen.

I was really wishing for a super wide-angle to show you all the parts of the room in one shot. Well, that was not possible. With the 12mm Laowa, I get a lot in but of course not all. To get the composition right I was setting up the camera first in Landscape but as you see the rooftop is not in the frame but that cool graffiti. Then I changed the direction to get more in to show the high ceiling.
Super-Superweitwinkel wär jetzt cool, um mal alles ins Bild zu bekommen. Nun, das war nicht möglich. Mit dem 12mm Laowa bekomme ja schon ich viel rein aber natürlich nicht alles. Für die Komposition richtig zu machen, habe ich die Kamera zuerst im Querformat eingerichtet, aber wie Ihr seht, ist das Dach nicht im Frame, aber das coole Graffiti zumindest. Um mehr ins Bild zu bekommen habe ich die Kamera um 90° gedreht.
To get this image I really had to think about all the shadows to place all the way up to the rooftop.
Starting on the ground casting the light through the doors to the left and right sidewalls. The image above shows a quick test if my idea with the light through the doors works. Nice hard shadows with a great angular shape on the top.
To get the crossing shadows on the ceiling I had to shed the light from each corner of the rectangular rooftop. To understand this you may go back to the first shot and remember what you see in the next shot. That would be the angle I was shining the light from.
Um dieses Bild zu erhalten, musste ich wirklich an all die Schatten denken, die ich bis zum Dach platzieren wollte. Beginnend am Boden warf ich das Licht durch die Türen auf die linke und rechte Seitenwand. Das Bild oben zeigt einen Schnelltest, ob meine Idee mit dem Licht durch die Türen funktioniert. Schöne harte Schatten mit einer tollen eckigen Form oben.
Um die sich kreuzenden Schatten an der Decke zu erhalten, musste ich das Licht von jeder Ecke des rechteckigen Daches abstrahlen. Um dies zu verstehen, können Sie zur ersten Aufnahme zurückkehren und sich daran erinnern, was Sie in der nächsten Aufnahme sehen. Das wäre der Winkel, aus dem ich das Licht strahlte.
This is what the structure looked like from the side. Already a cool subject by itself.
The first image I got with fewer colors was the following. As you can see the shadows I got worked sooooo cool. I was extremely happy with that result. For the featured image I wanted to add some red and be done with it.
Das erste Bild, welches ich cool fand, war das folgende. Das Prinzip mit den Schatten hat so cool funktioniert. Mit diesem Ergebnis war ich sehr zufrieden. Für das vorgestellte Bild wollte ich nur noch etwas Rot hinzufügen.
Get to the Location
Getting there was super easy. Zig Zack through the bushes and then there it was. Big smile on my face and excited to start Light Painting.
Die Anreise war super einfach. Zig Zack durch die Büsche und schon fast drin. Fettes Grinsen im Gesicht und voll aufgeregt, mit Light Painting loszulegen.
Super cool Location. I would do this one any time again.
Da fahre Ich auf jeden Fall nochmal hin wenn Ich in der Nähe bin, soviel ist klar.
