This will be an irregular series of posts (very irregular, I mean this template hasn't been used in over a year, but here we are again) - in these posts I'm going to look back into my archive to see what photos I took this day in previous years
This 'Not from Today' but it is from the 10th of July
2003 - From a old 'photo a day project' taken with the world's worst digital camera (but it was amazing at the time) I think it's Aspendale beach in Melbourne, Australia, where I lived at the time. As at the time this is what I wrote...
“What are you doing?” she asked
“Stepping in your footsteps” I replied as if it was the most normal thing ever, as I jumped from one sandy impression to another.
“Why?”
“I don’t want to disturb the sand.”
“Then should you go first, you have bigger feet.”
“But I’m scared to.”
Was I trying to be profound? Was I trying to be funny? Or just being an idiot - it was 21 years ago, so likely the later.
2007 - This is two houses ago, but I've had this small artists dolls for maybe 5 houses, I've always wanted to draw, I've never been able to, maybe that's were the photography comes from - anyway this was a 'studio' shot, I had these dolls in various poses. Very artistic.
2015 - So I had a blog in 2015 which revisited those photos I took in 2003 and wrote something new. This is North Melbourne where I'd moved by then, here is what I wrote, I don't understand what it means, maybe I was looking for meaning, or trying to sound smart. Some days, try as you might things just don’t turn out the way they should
2018 - I always loved this little alleyway, chances are I was just walking past and quickly glanced in, the man leaning there would have been pure chance. In 2003 this wouldn't be possible, someone staring at a phone, but 15 year later it was common place.
2019
Argh, the love and hate relationship I have with the Queen Victoria Market Night market, I've tried to shoot it 3 or 4 times it's always disappointing too crowded to get anything good.
2020
The COVID year of lock downs, so much Lego built, this was a project to build our car (at the time a blue SLK convertible) and there was even a mini-fig version of myself and my wife. This is a weird version of a mid life crisis.
2022
I was on my bike, it is cold, the middle of winter down here in Melbourne town but I found this window in a university and it was brilliant, so otherworldly.
And that my friends was my life on the 10th of July but not from today
