Amazing photos of a stunning location. This is Morey Plains, located on the Manali-Leh Highway. This place is so remote that you'll have to travel approximately 300 km by car to reach it. Basic amenities are lacking in this rugged area, and if you need to carry any personal belongings, you'll have to bring them yourself.
The Changpa tribe lives here, with their own flocks of sheep, goats, yaks, horses, and hunting dogs. I spent an entire day witnessing this daily routine, with everyone, from young to old, contributing to the health and grazing of their animals.
Previously, there was no lake in Morey Plains, and there was no source of water, so the tribe couldn't bring so many animals here. Now, since the water has been diverted to this side, a lake remains full of water throughout the season, a large number of animals can be seen here.
The creation of this lake has brought much more peace to the Changpa tribe, who otherwise had to take their numerous animals far away to get water. In the photos, you can see some of them bringing their animals down from the high mountains and watering them in the lake.
