Hello friends, good vibes to all.
This is the third batch of this series of photos that I decided to do a few weeks ago. As I said at the beginning, in the first publication I think, the amount of these toy cars that I have I think is a little big considering if what I want to do is to take pictures of this style, we are talking about more than 70 cars approximately, so yes, from there would come a considerable amount of photos that I will probably continue to do in the future.
The truth is that it is a lot of fun to do this kind of photography, the time goes by very fast thinking between photos, although sometimes it is true that the least thought and simplest capture is the one that looks the best. An example of this is this first photo that I share with you, a very striking dish, colorful and bright with the light in which I put a cart with a contrasting color, in this case green, so that it would attract more attention. This photo was a total coincidence because it was an ornamental plate that was in the house where I was so I took the opportunity and here comes out another of the things I always say: you have to take advantage of the environment.
And speaking of taking advantage of the environment, the second photo. No, we are not on top of a mountain or a tepui although it really looks like it, this is on the street next to a sports field. I liked these photos because the context applies very well, we are in front of a truck or an SUV that could perfectly be in these environments in real life without any problem and that is another issue that should be taken care of, as far as possible, try to ensure that there is a congruence between what we photograph with what surrounds us. By doing this, the photos make a little more sense.
But we always have the blessed but also the idea here is to break the rules, to play with the "what if..." and this can also be applied to any type of photography, not only in this style. For example, what would happen if I did a wedding photo shoot in a playground or an amusement park? - Well, it would be something weird, but that doesn't mean that bad or ugly pictures would come out of it. The same happens here, keeping the differences of course, this Mini Cooper is very unlikely to be in these areas but still it is and we still have a nice picture, sometimes you have to go slightly out of the book.
There is something that I realized while editing these photos and that is that I always look for the photos to have a certain background so that at the time of taking them and thanks to the depth of field there is always something in the background that gives a little color and so that our object in question stands out more. If you want to take this as a tip, EVERYTHING that comes out in your photos is important, whether or not it is related to the photo. It is not the same that in this pair of photos around the cars there is a key or a fork, than if you try to take care of those aspects and try to include what is needed and take out what is not. Conclusion: avoid objects that do not add anything to your photographs, so they will be cleaner and better composed.
I tell you something too, it has happened to me many times that I run out of ideas for more and that these toys give for a lot creatively speaking. You put one of these cars anywhere and take a picture of it and put it through a pretty basic editing process and I assure you that the picture will look decent. What I try to apply in these cases is to show the details of the object, get as close as I can, not have any distracting element and that the center of the capture is, in this case, the green rally car. In the absence of ideas, the mind is the one that has to work extra hard so that the work comes out smoothly.
As I said, these were the first nine cars I chose to make these first three publications. With the passing of the weeks or maybe days we will continue in this but always with new cars and trying to innovate a little. I really enjoy taking this kind of pictures, in my case they are toys but you can use any object that you consider to be photographable and do the same, there are no limits in photography.
By the way, I don't use any kind of lighting, that is, no flash or lights, everything is with natural light. When the environment is dark, friends, you have to appeal to the basic knowledge of photography and raise the ISO a little and try to open a little more the diaphragm to a point where the depth of field is still appreciated. And if doing all that, the photo is still dark, then what remains is to play a little with that darkness at the time of development, in the end it is nothing serious.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos vemos en la próxima!
