Roadside Wonder: A Home Being Moved Through Lindis Pass ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ

in Photography Lovers โ€ข 2 days ago

Moving either an existing house or a newly built house to another location is a norm in New Zealand ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ, I never knew such could happen until I started to see it on TV ๐Ÿ“บ here and I have so far witnessed a few on the roadside with this one being the largest or biggest I have seen on the road. While on TV ๐Ÿ“บ I have seen much bigger houses in the move.

It is incredibly amazing isn't it? Is this done in your part of the world? Where you have a home you like so much and have to move it to a location you also like so much?

I was traveling to Invercargill yesterday when I saw this, just as I drove out of Omarama, the truck stopped as we were almost at the very winding side of Lindis Pass for traffic to pass.

And also surprisingly it was doing about 80km/h on the straight path of the roads.

I never expected my shots will be the good as I was driving and taking the photos with my left hand. I did a good job ๐Ÿ˜„

It is an engineering feat for sure! Lately around here, they've come in and jacked a bunch of houses up and put them on new foundations much higher than the old because of the severe flooding we had in 2021.

Great pics! Thanks for sharing the adventure! Take care! !LADY

The professionalism that is put into house moving is incredible.
I think it is a good engineer option, that should be available to houses in certain locations like flood prone areas etc.

Thank you ๐Ÿ˜‡ ๐Ÿ™

Indeed! They are calling in my area, for several back to back atmospheric rivers. It's possible for up to 10" of rain to fall over a short period of time. That's more than fell during the flood of 2021. It's also possible that it won't come; weather around here is hard to predict because of the oceanic influence to the west and the Cascade Mountain Range to the east. It makes weather predicting a bit unpredictable!

Take care and thank you for the pizza!
