South Cotabato was in my travel bucket list, and there was one resort that I knew I must visit once I get my feet in there - Sunrise Gardein Resort. I have seen online photos of beautiful and blooming lotus with a great view of the mountains and owing slowly sifting through the serene lake waters.
My heart was filled with joy when I finally have seen it with my own eyes. There was no sunrise during our stay but the mist and fog was enough to get a glimpse of its beautiful morning view.
The lake has been occupied by fish cages, Tilapia is being grown and farmed here. Early morning, we witnessed local T'bolis man their boats into the bamboo fences, pouring their feeds into the construction, some were also harvesting the Tilapias.
Here's a local T'boli woman who was trying to fish. She was alone in her boat. I definitely love how she accessorized her hair but I guess that was not an accessory at all, she was simply covering her head.
Lotus flowers were blooming early that morning. They were growing and floating in the lake and they just look lovely in photos! We really wish we could also ride the "owong" but there was none available. This one in the photo above had a hole in it.
Owong is a traditional T'boli boat. It is made of a hard wood carved and made into a boat. It doesn't have any outrigger in it. T'bolis would ride it from the far end of the boat.
