The last two weeks in June saw very heavy rain almost everyday. The result was the grass and weeds grew like a jungle while all the trees seemed to gain some height. I could hardly believe these huge trees were once thin and small saplings which we had to tie to big bamboo stakes. All the cheap and hardy flowering plants by the wired fence have expanded with green leaves and lots of pink flowers.
It was quite surprising to see these forsaken plants with our very little attention giving beautiful pink blossoms. I thought these plants were protesting in nonviolent way to make me feel guilty for hardly spending time with them. They were left tonged for themselves and yet they became very beautiful and strong! These were true fighter in drought and soaking wet conditions. I had to salute to their independent and fighting spirits! I was very grateful to their generous offering of pink flowers.
สองสัปดาห์สุดท้ายของเดือนมิถุนายน ฝนตกหนักมากเกือบทุกวัน ข้อดีคือเราได้ประหยัดค่าน้ำ และคนสวนไม่ต้องเดินรดน้ำต้นไม้รอบบ้าน อากาศก็เย็นลง ทำงานในสวนก็ไม่เหนื่อยมาก ข้อดีอีกอย่างคือ ต้นไม้ใหญ่รอบบ้านสวนก็สูงใหญ่ขึ้นไปอีก เราแทบจำต้นไม้พวกนี้ไม่ได้ แต่ก่อนพวกนี้ต้นผอมบางมาก เราต้องเอาไม้ไผ่มาผูกไว้เพื่อกันไม่ให้โดนลมพัดโค่นลงมา ตอนนี้แต่ละต้นสูงเกือบสิบเมตรแล้ว และที่น่าแปลกใจคือ พวกไม้ดอกราคาถูกที่เราปลูกไว้ริมรั้วนั้น ต่างก็ขยายพุ่มไม้และออกดอกกันเต็มต้น
เราแปลกใจมากที่ต้นเข็มใหญ่และต้นชบา พากันออดใบเขียวชอุ่ม และมีดอกไม้สีชมพูเต็มไปหมด ดูแล้วสดชื่นและแปลกตามาก เราปลูกไว้กันวัชพืช และแทบไม่ได้ดูแลพวกนี้เลย เราปล่อยให้ท่านเทวดาช่วยรดน้ำต้นไม้ให้เรา เพราะตรงนั้นสายยางเข้าไปไม่ถึง ต้องอาศัยน้ำฝน เราไม่ได้ใส่ปุ๋ยอะไรเลยด้วย ไม่อยากเชื่อเลยว่าต้นไม้ที่ถูกทอดทิ้งให้ดูแลตนเอง จะสามารถเติบใหญ่และให้ดอกไม้สีชมพูหวานๆ มากมายขนาดนี้ เราคิดว่าพวกมันคงวางแผนทำให้เรารู้สึกผิดที่ไม่ใส่ใจต้นไม้ธรรมดาราคาถูก คราวนี้เราก็เลยต้องขอบใจพวกต้นไม้สองต้นนี้อย่างมาก เราเห็นแล้วว่าพวกนี้พิสูจน์ว่าคนเองมีค่าและมีอะไรดีๆในตัวเองมากกว่า ที่เราคาดหวังมากมายนัก
Moreover, these flowers could be useful as ingredients in cooking. The needle flowers could be dipped in egg batter and deep fried just like vegetable tempura. The hibiscus flowers would be much better used as flower tea to calm the nerves; but these flowers could be deep fried too. But deep fried hibiscus flowers would not be as crispy as needle flowers. I have never tried these before as we never had so much flowers before. I think I would look up the recipe for the mixed flour and egg batter on the Internet. Besides, we also have a special plant with dainty leaves which could be quickly deep fried as vegetable tempuras; these are the best green tempuras I ever had with curry! Very light and crispy; I could hear the munching sound of these leaves and the sweet taste was just divine.
เราปลูกต้นไม้พวกนี้ไว้เป็นอาหารและยาในยามฉุกเฉิน ดอกเข็มนั้นสามารถเอามาชุบแป้งทอดได้อร่อยมาก ดอกชบาก็เอามาทอดกินได้เช่นกัน แต่คนส่วนใหญ่จะเอาไปทำชาร้อนมากกว่า เพราะมีประโยชน์มาก มีวิตามินหลายอย่าง และช่วยลดความดันและไขมันในเลือดด้วย เรายังมีต้นเล็บครุฑโบราณที่คนสมัยก่อนเอามาชุบแป้งทอด แล้วกินกับขนมจีนน้ำพริก มันจะกรอบมากและหวานแบบธรรมชาติ เราคงต้องหาสูตรทำแป้งชุบมาทอด ดอกไม้ในบ้านสวนกินแล้ว มีของดีอยู่ในบ้าน แต่แทบไม่ได้ใช้ประโยชน์เลย และเราคงจะต้องขอบใจต้นไม้ธรรมดาแต่ใจดีพวกนี้ด้วย ตลอดจนเทวดาที่คอยดูแลเอาใจใส่ต้นไม้ และสวนของเราด้วย

Thank you! I can’t remember the long scientific names!! I prefer to call them by common name people call these flowers. I only know cheap flowers and plants!! LoL
