Creeping back past midnight with my Hive posts. Here I am. The day started strong. @vermillionfox was up early for work and I got @guthrie to school. From there, I went straight to @caffetto and finished three dark pinup photography edits that I’ll be sharing tonight. Once I got home, the day got away from me. I spiraled in to a stressful cycle over money and our house falling further and further into disarray. I’m missing friends. I really wish I could take a week and just chill with @roadscape and vent about some person stuff. Maybe it’s time I book another reading with @tarotbyfergus.

I mentioned some new photography, so let’s get to that. I was in LA last October and had a ton of shoots booked. @aquariella and @dressedtokillyou both booked shoots and hairstyling by our friend Lizette of Silver Screen Vanity. I first worked with Lizette in 2015 when she assisted with hair at the annual NOIR event I held in Los Angeles. She was just getting started and we’ve continued to collaborate for almost 8 years. She’s the best in the industry at vintage hairstyles, and while she was getting our friends ready for their sessions, I pulled her aside and said, “Let’s get a few shots of our own.”.

Lizette and I have worked together at the mansion a dozen times over the years so we were both familiar with the space. We made a few pictures in the dining room, then to the main vestibule entry way. Lizette is a stunning Latina goth pinup and while we were shooting in front of a wrap around staircase, a black cat ran behind us. My shutter finger was quick enough to capture him. Often, it’s just about being in the right place at the right time. We wrapped things up in less than 10 minutes while the model’s hair was setting and got back on schedule.

These were just for fun and I’m so glad we took the time for then. Lizette has really become an iconic artist and hair sculptor in this industry. She’s world class and in a league of her own. We came up together and these photos are a documentation of our longtime friendship and collaborative relationship together. For the rest of the night, I’m going to review photos to edit tomorrow. I’ll be at @caffetto in the afternoon trying to get caught up before meeting @vermillionfox after work to see John Wick 4. Let’s hope for a peaceful, relaxing weekend. I need it.

I love the image featuring the cat limbering up the stairs in the background. That's a fantastic moment of story telling, be it intentional or not :)
