INVISIBLE LIGHT
Together with Hans Roufflair, @stepko, @candelart and his charming wife Geane we paid a second visit to the Heilandskirche in Potsdam. Once again, the last monk haunted the church.
Gemeinsam mit Hans Roufflair, @stepko, @candelart und seiner bezaubernden Frau Geane statteten wir der Heilandskirche in Potsdam einen zweiten Besuch ab. Auch dieses Mal geisterte wieder der letzte Mönch an der Kirche herum.

REFLECTION?
First I illuminated @stepko with the Convoy S2+ UV torch. Then I illuminated him with a bundle of white optical fibres and blue Convoy S2+. In the next step I lit the portico of the church with the Emisar D4V2. After rotating the camera 180° around the optical axis, I repeated the steps. @stepko had changed his position before. The difficulty here was that both positions are then exactly on top of each other in the finished picture. We needed several attempts until it was right. First the camera was in the wrong position. Then the camera rotation tool was wrong and the rotation was not exactly in the middle... The things that can go wrong.
Zuerst beleuchtete ich @stepko mit der Convoy S2+ UV Taschenlampe. Danach beleuchtete ich ihn mit einem Bündel weißer Glasfasern und blauer Convoy S2+. Im nächsten Schritt beleuchtete ich den Säulengang der Kirche mit der Emisar D4V2. Nach dem Drehen der Kamera um 180° um die optische Achse wiederholte ich die Schritte. @stepko hatte zuvor seine Position gewechselt. Die Schwierigkeit war hier, dass beide Positionen dann im fertigen Bild genau übereinander sind. Wir brauchten mehrere Versuche, bis das gepasst hat. Zuerst stand die Kamera an der falschen Position. Dann hatte sich das Camera Rotation Tool verstellt und die Rotation war nicht genau in der Mitte... Was eben alles so schiefgehen kann.

Without camera rotation it looks like this. This was a first test shot to test the lighting.
Ohne Camera Rotation sieht das dann so aus. Das war eine erste Testaufnahme um die Beleuchtung zu testen.
This is how the church looks from the front. The pictures above were taken from the left side. The Havel flows directly to the right of the church.
So sieht die Kirche von vorne aus. Die Bilder oben haben wir von der linken Seite aufgenommen. Direkt rechts neben der Kirche fließt die Havel.

For the second picture of the night, Hans slipped into the monk's costume. I first pointed the camera at the left portico. With a second tripod, I then pointed the camera at the right portico. The alignment was not that easy, to say the least. Both parts should meet exactly in the middle and look as if they were mirrored. How can you come up with such crazy ideas? Next time I'll do something simple with tubes or floral elements in all the colours of the rainbow. No, fun.
I illuminated the monk again first with the UV torch and then with the glass fibres. In the second step, I again illuminated the portico with the Emisar D4V2. Without finishing the exposure, I switched the camera to the second tripod and repeated the lighting on the other side. Surprisingly, this worked right away on the first try.
Beim zweiten Bild der Nacht schlüpfte Hans in das Mönchskostüm. Ich richtete die Kamera zuerst auf den linken Säulengang aus. Mit einem zweiten Stativ richtete ich dann die Kamera auf den rechten Säulengang aus. Die Ausrichtung war nicht ganz so einfach, um es mal vorsichtig auszudrücken. Beide Teile sollten sich genau in der Mitte treffen und möglichst aussehen, als wären sie gespiegelt. Wie kann man nur auf derart bekloppte Ideen kommen? Das nächste Mal mach ich was Einfaches mit Tubes oder floralen Elementen in allen Farben des Regenbogens. Nein, Spaß.
Ich beleuchtete den Mönch wieder zuerst mit der UV Taschenlampe und dann mit den Glasfasern. Im zweiten Schritt beleuchtete ich wieder den Säulengang mit der Emisar D4V2. Ohne die Belichtung zu beenden wechselte ich die Kamera auf das zweite Stativ und wiederholte die Beleuchtung auf der anderen Seite. Erstaunlicherweise hat das auf Anhieb beim ersten Versuch funktioniert.
I would have liked to do some more light paintings that night. But more and more fog came in and it got unpleasantly cold. So we packed up our stuff and headed home.
Gerne hätte ich noch einige Light Paintings in dieser Nacht gemacht. Aber es zog immer mehr Nebel auf und es wurde unangenehm kalt. Wir packten also unsern Kram zusammen und machten uns auf den Heimweg.
