THE ELEVATOR
Actually, I wanted to go to the pyramid again with @stepko. In the pouring rain, however, the fun there would have been very limited. So we drove to the airfield of the Soviet forces in the north of Brandenburg. It's almost around the corner, only 150 km to drive. It's great fun on a Friday afternoon. But as I always say: "Light painting is not a pony farm". When we arrived at the airfield, we unloaded our equipment. We had chosen a building where we could stay reasonably dry. The highlight in this former warehouse building is this lift.
Eigentlich wollte ich mit @stepko nochmal zur Pyramide. Bei strömendem Regen wäre der Spaß dort allerdings sehr begrenzt gewesen. Also fuhren wir nochmal zum Flugplatz der sowjetischen Streitkräfte in den Norden Brandenburgs. Ist ja fast um die Ecke, nur 150 km zu fahren. Freitag nachmittag ist das ein schöner Spaß. Aber wie ich immer sage: "Lightpainting ist kein Ponyhof." Am Flugplatz angekommen luden wir unsere Ausrüstung aus. Wir hatten uns ein Gebäude ausgesucht, in dem wir halbwegs trocken blieben. Das Highlight in diesem ehemaligen Lagergebäude ist dieser Fahrstuhl.

It's not all that safe, to say the least. Not only are the rusted metal sheets hanging from the ceiling, but the floor of the lift is also missing. Not falling in the dark was the biggest difficulty here. I can reassure you, @stepko and I survived the excursion safely. First I illuminated @stepko from behind with the new Emisar D4K and neon green colour filter. Then, in a second step, the lift from behind and finally the scene from the front without the colour filter.
Das ist nicht ganz so ungefährlich, um es mal vorsichtig auszudrücken. Nicht nur, dass die verrosteten Bleche von der Decke hängen, es fehlt auch der Boden des Fahrstuhls. Im Dunkeln nicht abzustürzen war hier die größte Schwierigkeit. Ich kann euch beruhigen, @stepko und ich haben den Ausflug wohlbehalten überstanden. Zuerst habe ich @stepko von hinten mit der neuen Emisar D4K und neongrünem Farbfilter beleuchtet. Im zweiten Schritt dann den Fahrstuhl von hinten und zum Schluß die Szene von vorne ohne Farbfilter.

Because of the danger of falling, I preferred to lock the lift. I didn't want anyone else to fall and get eaten by the bats that live in the basement. First I painted the cross and then @stepko and I lit the scene with the Emisar D4K.
Aufgrund der Gefahr abzustürzen habe ich dann den Fahrstuhl lieber gesperrt. Nicht, dass noch jemand abstürzt und von den Fledermäusen, die im Keller wohnen, gefressen wird. Ich hatte zuerst das Kreuz gemalt und dann @stepko und die Szene mit der Emisar D4K ausgeleuchtet.

On the first attempt, the barrier was too low. I didn't want anyone else to climb over it.
Beim ersten Versuch war die Absperrung zu niedrig. Nicht, dass da noch jemand drüber steigt.

In this picture @stepko was standing in front of the lift. i had now positioned the camera further away. I shone the KDLitker E6 660nm through the lift to the front. I didn't expect to be in the right position straight away. At this distance through the lift, I could only guess where the camera was. Admittedly, it's not quite perfect, but we decided against a repeat performance. In the second step, I then illuminated the room with the Emisar D4K.
Bei diesem Bild stand @stepko dann vor dem Fahrstuhl. die Kamer hatte ich jetzt weiter entfernt aufgestellt. Ich leuchtete mit der KDLitker E6 660nm durch den Fahrstuhl nach vorne. Ich hätte nicht damit gerechnet, dass ich auf Anhieb an der richtigen Position stehe. Auf diese Entfernung durch den Fahrstuhl konnte ich nur noch ahnen an welcher Stelle die Kamera steht. Zugegeben, ganz perfekt ist das nicht, aber wir verzichteten auf eine Wiederholung. Im zweiten Schritt beleuchtete ich dann den Raum mit der Emisar D4K.
