This is a very funny and creative story! I love the way you use alliteration and humor to describe your experience. The part about the Ministry of Silly Walks is especially clever.
I can imagine how disappointed you must have been to find that the smoke from the wildfires had ruined your beach walk. But I also think it's funny how you turned the situation into an adventure. Climbing on the driftwood and shooting the birds was a very "Wednesday Walk" thing to do.
I also appreciate the way you end the story with a touch of sadness. The fact that even the birds are leaving because of the smoke is a reminder of the serious impact that wildfires can have on the environment.
Thank you! Humor makes everything better I think :) Lol, Ministry of Silly Walks is a nod to the old British TV show Monty Python's Flying Circus.
It was a bit of a disappointment to say the least. I'd been dealing with the smoke for a while but nothing like that, was a bit of an unpleasant surprise. Hey, anything can be an adventure if you approach it the right way.
Wildfires are bad and they're only getting worse. Shortly after I left the beach I started meeting people who'd had to leave their homes due to the smoke and fires. I'm afraid stuff like this is going to keep happening, more and more frequently unless something changes drastically. The environment is hurting and the wildfires are one of the more dramatic symptoms of that I suspect.
Thanks for dropping by!
