The Cathedral of St. Peter of Alcantara is located in the city of Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro, and its construction began in the 19th century, in the year of 1884. Its got a neo-gothic style and is located downtown Petrópolis. The cathedral houses the mausoleum of Pedro II of Brazil and his wife, the Empress Teresa Cristina.

Gothic architecture, I believe, has given us true gems of construction, and in Latin America the best example of this style is the churches. In my country, Venezuela, there are many buildings of this type that still exist, and I have always liked to visit them and see their pointed windows, their stained glass ... they seem beautiful to me. I particularly liked this church of San Pedro de Alcántara, since the tower is imposing. A big hug.
La arquitectura gótica considero nos ha brindado verdaderas joyas de la construcción, y en América Latina el mejor ejemplo de este estilo son las iglesias. En mi país, Venezuela, existen muchos edificios de este tipo que aún subsisten, y siempre me ha gustado visitarles y ver sus ventanas ojivales, sus vitrales... me parecen bellísimos. Me gustó en particular esta iglesia de San Pedro de Alcántara, ya que la torre es imponente. Un gran abrazo.
