Club Puerto Azul: an ideal destination for vacationing by the sea
The oceans and seas cover a huge proportion of our planet and are a crucial part of our existence. Their enigmatic depths have, since the dawn of civilization, been a source of fascination, awe and fear for mankind. No wonder we are so attracted to the sea.
Many years ago, I had the opportunity to spend a Christmas vacation with my family at a beach club located on the central coast of Venezuela. Our stay was about six or seven days, before returning to the city of Caracas to receive the New Year, however, that trip meant, and still today, means a lot to me, because it was perhaps the last occasion to share as a family, before my marriage came to an end, and consequently, each one took the path that corresponded to him.
The Club Puerto Azul is a private recreational tourist complex located in the town of Naiguatá, in the state of Vargas. It was founded in the early 1950's by businessman Daniel Camejo Octavio and his son Peter. Later, both were part of the crew of the Venezuelan Star class sailing team that participated in the 1960 Olympic Games, held in the Italian city of Rome, where they finished in 21st place.
This tourist center has become one of the most recognized and important in Latin America, in spite of the fact that it was severely affected by a landslide, product of the heavy rains of December 1999 in Vargas State, which generated an enormous alluvium that buried a great part of the Club's facilities for many months. The members, with effort and tenacity, managed to recover the spaces while preserving the original design.
It has three 15-story buildings that provide lodging for its members and guests, which were built on the grounds of what was once the Hacienda "Longa España".
The club is a social center that has an avant-garde architecture and includes a modern central structure with a restaurant, party rooms, library, gymnasium, sauna, commercial areas, swimming pool complex with bowling, semi-open roofed cinema, gardens and courts for volleyball and basketball, some of which were not in operation at the time of our visit, due to the recovery work caused by the aforementioned tragedy.
It is also worth mentioning that it has a boardwalk and a marina with docks for the mooring of some 80 boats, including yachts and 12-meter sailboats. In short, it is a tourist center that offers all the comforts for the healthy enjoyment and recreation of the family, either in summer or winter, because the privileged and warm waters of the Caribbean Sea allow it at any time of the year.
Since then, and although my children have visited it on several occasions, I have not returned, however, I do not lose hope that it will happen at some point.

Los océanos y mares cubren una enorme proporción de nuestro planeta y son una parte crucial de nuestra existencia. Sus enigmáticas profundidades han sido desde los inicios de la civilización, una fuente de fascinación, asombro y temor para la humanidad. Por eso no es de extrañar que nos sintamos tan atraídos por el mar.
Muchos años atrás, tuve la oportunidad de pasar unas vacaciones decembrinas con mi familia en un club de playa ubicado en el litoral central de Venezuela. Nuestra estadía fue de unos seis o siete días, antes de regresar a la ciudad de Caracas para recibir el Año Nuevo, sin embargo, aquel viaje significó, y aún hoy en día, significa mucho para mí, por cuanto fue tal vez la última ocasión de compartir como familia, antes de que mi matrimonio llegara a su fin, y en consecuencia, cada quien tomara el camino que le correspondía.
El Club Puerto Azul es un complejo turístico recreacional de carácter privado ubicado en la población de Naiguatá, en el estado Vargas. Fue fundado a principios de la década de los 50 del siglo pasado, por el empresario Daniel Camejo Octavio y su hijo Peter. Posteriormente, ambos formaron parte de la tripulación del equipo venezolano de vela de la clase Star que participó en los Juegos Olímpicos de 1960, celebrados en la ciudad italiana de Roma, donde finalizarían en el puesto 21.
Este centro turístico se ha convertido en uno de los más reconocidos e importantes de la América Latina, a pesar de que se vió severamente afectado por un deslave de tierras, producto de las fuertes lluvias caídas de diciembre de 1999 en el estado Vargas, lo que generó un enorme aluvión que sepultó gran parte de las instalaciones del Club por muchos meses. Los socios, con esfuerzo y tesón, lograron recuperar los espacios conservando el diseño original.
Cuenta con tres edificaciones de 15 pisos que permiten dar alojamiento a sus socios e invitados; que fueron construidos en terrenos de lo que en una época era la Hacienda "Longa España".
El club es un centro social que posee una arquitectura vanguardista y comprende una moderna estructura central con restaurante, salones de fiesta, biblioteca, gimnasio, sauna, áreas comerciales, complejo de piscinas con bowling, cine techado semi abierto, jardines y canchas para la práctica del volibol y el basketbol, algunas de las cuales, no se encontraban en funcionamiento al momento que lo visitamos, por los trabajos de recuperación motivado a la tragedia anteriormente mencionada.
También es oportuno destacar, que posee un malecón y una marina deportiva con muelles para el atraque de unas 80 embarcaciones, que incluyen yates y veleros de 12 metros. En fin, es un centro turístico que ofrece todas las comodidades para el sano disfrute y esparcimiento de la familia, bien sea en verano o en invierno, porque las privilegiadas y cálidas aguas del Mar Caribe lo permiten en cualquier época del año.
Desde entonces, y aunque mis hijos lo han visitado en diversas ocasiones, yo no he regresado, sin embargo, no pierdo las esperanzas de que ocurra en algún momento.

It looks like a relaxing holiday I like this kind of beach club where you are close to the sea and can do activities with kids too 👍
It was a very relaxing vacation, and you are right, the club has many activities for children and teenagers, even has an ocean beach with a little strong waves where the boats are located, and a quieter beach with little waves for the whole family to enjoy, without risks.
