The camera must always be ready, but even more ready must be the photographer's attention, who must sharpen his senses to capture those unrepeatable and spontaneous moments.
What you see is one of those unplanned moments in an event where the surprise can be a positive or negative answer for the man who is asking for the hand of his loved one.
It happened many years ago during a modeling event for many agencies organized by Foto Pose Venezuela. In a previous post I told that it was one of my first sessions of this type of fashion and that it took place in the city of Caracas.
The animator of that event was the renowned actress Kerly Ruiz, who worked as host of programs such as Ají Picante and La Bomba of Radio Caracas Televisión and Televen channels, respectively.
She was in charge of welcoming the models and representatives of the different clothing brands and modeling agencies, as well as musical groups.
It was a few minutes after the beginning of the event, while a woman was giving a speech next to Kerly Ruiz, when she was surprised by her boyfriend who bent down, took out a ring and asked for the hand of his beloved.
The face of the lady was a poem, her surprise was maximum. There was a lot of joy in her look. However, there were a few brief seconds of silence on the part of the betrothed that put the agony not only in the spectators, but especially in the boy who kneeling waited for a positive answer.
In the end, the woman accepted the proposal and the public accompanied with jubilation the welcome of a couple who had decided to seal their union with holy matrimony.
Even though I went to that pattern only to take pictures of a dance group that was performing at different times of the event, I also took pictures of the participants of the catwalk and I did not put my camera away.
That proposal was very fast, everything happened suddenly and as I was not the official photographer, I had no access to the program of the event, as to foresee the exact moment when that marriage proposal was going to take place and thus take more pictures.
In the end I could only take these two photos, because I was working with the camera's native flash which does not allow to take burst photos and takes several seconds to charge to work again.
Honestly, just like today, I wasn't looking for the names of the protagonists, hehe. I didn't look for the new formal couple to give them these photos and keep a nice memory of the time they sealed their ties with a pleasant yes.
I have always lacked that "sensitivity" to tag people or ask to be tagged when I take photos for others. Actually, I don't give it all the importance it deserves to promote my work or for others to see themselves portrayed.
Even though the main protagonists carry the names and surnames of this couple, in my mind, and for those who don't know this couple, the main protagonist is the photo, because like me it doesn't have a connection of friendship or familiarity with the boy and his fiancée.
I know it's something to improve, but in my criteria, not being aware of those labels gives me calm. Sure, I appreciate if people do and mention who took the photos, but it's not something I ask of those posing and I don't even mention it.

La cámara siempre debe estar lista, pero más lista debe estar la atención del fotógrafo que debe agudizar sus sentidos para capturar esos momentos irrepetibles y espontáneos.
Lo que ven es uno de esos instantes no planificados dentro de un evento donde la sorpresa puede ser una respuesta positiva o negativa para el hombre que esta pidiendo la mano de sus ser amado.
Ocurrió hace muchos años durante un evento de modelaje para muchas agencias que organizó Foto Pose Venezuela. En un post anterior conté que fue una de mis primeras sesiones de este tipo de moda y que tuvo lugar en la ciudad de Caracas.
La animadora de aquella cita fue la reconocida actriz Kerly Ruiz, quien trabajó como host de programas como Ají Picante y La Bomba de los canales Radio Caracas Televisión y Televen, respectivamente.
Ella era la encargada de dar la bienvenida a las modelos y representantes de las diferentes marcas de ropa y agencias de modelaje, además de agrupaciones musicales.
Fue pocos minutos después del inicio de dicho evento, que mientras una mujer daba una palabras al lado de Kerly Ruiz, cuando fue sorprendida por su novio quien se agachó, sacó un anillo y pidió la mano de su amada.
La cara de la dama fue un poema, la sorpresa de ella fue máxima. Había mucha alegría en su mirada. Sin embargo, hubo unos breves segundos de silencio de parte de la prometida que pusieron la agonía no sólo en los espectadores, sino especialmente en el muchacho que arrodillado esperaba una respuesta positiva.
Al final, la mujer aceptó la propuesta y el público acompañó con júbilo la bienvenida de un pareja que había decidido sellar su unión con el santo matrimonio.
A pesar que yo fui a aquella pauta sólo a tomarle fotos a una agrupación de baile que se presentaba en diferentes ocasiones del evento, también le tomé fotos a los participantes de la pasarela y no guardé mi cámara.
Aquella petición de mano fue muy rápida, todo ocurrió repentinamente y como yo no era el fotógrafo oficial, no tenía acceso al programa del evento, como para prever el momento exacto en que aquella propuesta de matrimonio se iba a llevar a cabo y de esa forma tomar más fotos.
Al final solo pude tomar estas dos fotos, porque estaba trabajando con el flash autóctono de la cámara el cual no permite tomar fotos en ráfaga y tarda varios segundos en cargar para funcionar nuevamente.
Sinceramente, al igual que en esta actualidad, no estaba pendiente de los nombres de los protagonistas, jeje. Yo no busqué a la nueva formal pareja para darles estas fotos y que guardara un recuerdo bonito de la vez que sellaron sus lazos con un grato sí.
Siempre me ha faltado esa "sensibilidad" para etiquetar a personas o pedir que me etiqueten cuando realizo fotos para terceros. En realidad, no le doy toda la importancia que merece para promocionar mi trabajo o para que otros se vean retratados.
Aunque los protagonistas puntuales llevan los nombres y apellidos de esta pareja, en mi mente, y para quienes no conocen a esta pareja, el protagonista principal es la foto, porque al igual que yo no tiene una conexión de amistad o familiaridad con el muchacho y su prometida.
Sé que es algo a mejorar, pero en mi criterio, no estar pendiente de esas etiquetas me da calma. Claro que agradezco si las personas lo hacen y mencionan quien hizo las fotos, pero no es algo que solicite a los que posen y ni siquiera lo menciono.

Hermosas fotos @miguelmederico, de gran impacto para la vida de esa persona, en ese suspenso que hubo para la respuesta, me hubiese gustado ver la cara del novio esperando el si, pero como ya explicaste no se pudo, saludos...
bueno, te diré que yo vi la agonía y hasta sentí que ese "sí" fue por la presión social, jeje, pero como de ello no tengo pruebas y sólo son conjeturas, no lo menciono.
