Bearded Iris

I find the Bearded Iris (Iris germanica) to be one of the most interesting looking flowers. The can be found in many different colors.

They often look like they have a tongue or a beard hence the name. Usually found in spring, I know I have even seen them in late summer.

They can be quite photogenic in any type of light. Even bright sunlight tends to not wash out their colors.
