Insect Macro Photography

A selection of some macro photography from my first few years taking pictures. I learned how to do macro with a 50mm and 35mm prime lens and some extension tubes. That really helped me develop the patience I needed to observe and follow nature rather then always trying to react to it.

Nice pictures. How close do you need to be with an 50mm lens?
By chance, I just tried doing some macro with an old 200mm lens and extension tubes. But already found that the distance you need to be for that, already scares away most insects sadly

Thanks very much! With a 50mm lens I need to be within 4 or 5 inches and have to move in and out to get the focus that I want, its such a different way of doing thins as its all manual focus with them on this lens.

Ah yes, thats is a distance i in the range that i expected. Yes the moving whole camera to get the focus I also experienced with my setup. Still getting so close and so well in focus, well done
